36. Studies on Prostanoid Production in the Umbilicoplacental Circulation
Sammanfattning : The fetoplacental circulation is a low pressure system with a high vascular prostacyclin to thromboxane (Pc/Tx)synthesis ratio. In intrauterin growth restriction (IUGR) and diabetes the prostanoid balance may be altered. LÄS MER
37. Growth factor regulation of the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrium, and the significance of uPA receptor activation in endometrial angiogenesis
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to examine the role of growth factors and the urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) system in human endometrial angiogenesis. Growth factors as well as progesterone increased expression of the main inhibitor of uPA (PAI-1) in primary cultures of endometrial stromal cells. LÄS MER
38. Some effects of maternal anxiety on the fetus and on pregnancy outcome
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study maternal emotional impact on the fetus and on pregnancy outcome. The thesis comprises five papers, which emanate from a prospective study regarding life situation, the experience of pregnancy, anxiety (Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety),and life events in nulliparous women, conducted in Malmö during 1988-1989. 39. Involvement of vasopressin and oxytocin in the regulation of human uterine activity
Sammanfattning : Vasopressin and oxytocin seem to have pivotal roles in the pathophysiology of primary dysmenorrhoea and preterm labour. Prostaglandins are also involved in the regulation of uterine activity with different receptors mediating both stimulation and relaxation. LÄS MER
40. Blood pressure, renal functional and structural changes, in normal and preeclamptic pregnancy
Sammanfattning : The kidneys play a pivotal role in the adaptive physiology of the pregnant woman, presenting some changes at term similar to the changes found in preeclampsia – a state of increased risk of fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality. The aim of these investigations was to explore possible similarities in blood pressure regulation, renal function and structure in normal term and preeclamptic pregnancy, to ascertain whether both conditions in fact are different degrees of an adaptive process in reaction to pregnancy.
