Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen undersöker hur ungdomar som nyligen har kommit till Sverige upplever sin vardag, i och utanför skolan, under den första tiden efter migrationen, samt hur de ser på sin framtid i det svenska samhället. 17. Slöjdundervisning med nyanlända elever – om multimodal interaktion och kommunikation i slöjdklassrum
Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to identify and describe sloyd teachers and newly arrived students’ multimodal interaction and communication, and how this is expressed in sloyd teaching and the learning environment of the sloyd classroom. The study uses an ethnographic methodology and the empirical material is analysed at a micro and macro level, and a handheld camera is used to document sloyd teaching with newly arrived students at two elementary schools in Years 8–9, during one semester. Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis is to investigate how schools’ formal and informal structures affect the pedagogical and social inclusion of newly arrived students, as well as how newly arrived students in grades 7-9 and school staff themselves understand and handle these structures. The study investigates the social interaction between students with a special focus on the possibilities and hindrances for inclusion of the newcomer immigrant students in different groupings at school, and the ways these students handle possibilities and hindrances for social inclusion. Sammanfattning : An important issue in teaching and research is how newly arrived students best can develop their linguistic resources in learning. The overall aim of the dissertation is to contribute with in-depth knowledge of the context for newly arrived primary school students' digital meaning-making in Swedish as a second language (SSL) when the subject is studied in parallel with Swedish.
