1. Ramification numbers and periodic points in arithmetic dynamical systems
Sammanfattning : The field of discrete dynamical systems is a rich and active field of research within mathematics, with applications ranging from biology to computer science, finance, engineering and various others. In this thesis properties of certain discrete dynamical systems are studied together with number theoretic properties of the functions defining these systems. LÄS MER
2. Nonlinear Approaches to Periodic Signal Modeling
Sammanfattning : Periodic signal modeling plays an important role in different fields. The unifying theme of this thesis is using nonlinear techniques to model periodic signals. The suggested techniques utilize the user pre-knowledge about the signal waveform. This gives these techniques an advantage as compared to others that do not consider such priors. LÄS MER
3. Algebraic Dynamical Systems, Analytical Results and Numerical Simulations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study discrete dynamical system, given by a polynomial, over both finite extension of the fields of p-adic numbers and over finite fields. Especially in the p-adic case, we study fixed points of dynamical systems, and which elements that are attracted to them. We show with different examples how complex these dynamics are. LÄS MER
4. Residue fixed point index and wildly ramified power series
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns discrete dynamical systems. These are systems where the dynamics is modeled by iterated functions. There are several applications of discrete dynamical system e.g. LÄS MER
5. Numerical computations of wind turbine wakes
Sammanfattning : Numerical simulations of the Navier-Stokes equations are performed to achieve a better understanding of the behaviour of wakes generated by wind turbines. The simulations are performed by combining the in-house developed computer code EllipSys3D with the actuator line and disc methodologies. LÄS MER
