11. Interorganellar connectivity : From protein to lipid homeostasis
Sammanfattning : Interorganellar connectivity is fundamental for the maintenance of organellar and cellular functionality and viability. This is achieved and maintained by a complex network of signaling cascades, vesicle trafficking between organelles as well as by establishment of direct physical contact at membrane contact sites (MCS). 12. Ghrelin in feeding: new insights into its role and the neurocircuits involved
Sammanfattning : Appetite, originally evolved to ensure we consume enough of diverse nutrients to survive famines, has lost its survival advantage in our modern society, where food is plentiful. The hedonic aspect of appetite can indeed induce over-consumption of food, a major cause for the obesity pandemic. LÄS MER
13. Towards a semantics of linguistic time : exploring some basic time concepts with special reference to English and Krio
Sammanfattning : Using English and the West-African creole language Krio as the objects of investigation, this study proposes an analysis in which verbs and the paradigms pertaining to verbs are conceived of as being the only direct carriers of linguistic time encoding. The fundamental assumption is that nominals encode substance, be it concrete or abstract, and that verbals encode abstract substance with time. LÄS MER
14. Motion and Emotion : Functional In Vivo Analyses of the Mouse Basal Ganglia
Sammanfattning : A major challenge in the field of neuroscience is to link behavior with specific neuronal circuitries and cellular events. One way of facing this challenge is to identify unique cellular markers and thus have the ability to, through various mouse genetics tools, mimic, manipulate and control various aspects of neuronal activity to decipher their correlation to behavior. 15. Nuclear Intonation in Swedish : Evidence from Experimental-Phonetic Studies and a Comparison with German
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates Swedish intonation patterns and their interaction with word accent realisation in various pragmatic conditions, using German as a reference language. The point of departure is the wide-spread assumption that Swedish, as a language with a tonal word accent distinction, has a considerably smaller repertoire of nuclear intonation contours than German and other so-called intonation languages.
