  1. 1. Structural Studies of Human 5'-Nucleotidases

    Författare :Karin Walldén; Pär Nordlund; Norbert Sträter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nucleotidases; nucleotide; nucleoside; nucleoside analogue; Structural biochemistry; Strukturbiokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : 5’-Nucleotidases (5’NTs) are catabolic enzymes of the nucleotide metabolism. They catalyze dephosphorylation of deoxyribo- and ribonucleoside monophosphates and constitute an important control point in the regulation of intracellular nucleotide pools for the maintenance of correct DNA and RNA synthesis. 2. 2. Deoxyribonucleoside kinases in bacteria, plants and humans

    Författare :Anders Ranegaard Clausen; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anti-viral drugs; gene therapy; cancer; evolution; nucleoside analog; deoxyribonucleoside kinase; thymidine kinase;

    Sammanfattning : Deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) are the building blocks of DNA and can be synthesized either de novo or via salvage pathways. The first reaction in the salvage pathway of dNTPs is the conversion of deoxyribonucleosides (dN) into the deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate (dNMP). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Targeting the nucleotide metabolism of the mammalian pathogen Trypanosoma brucei

    Författare :Munender Vodnala; Anders Hofer; Arne Holmgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Trypanosoma brucei; adenosine kinase; thymidine kinase; methylthioadenosine phosphorylase; mouser ribonucleotide reductase; E. coli ribonucleotide reductase; RNR; Ara-A; F-Ara-A; dNTP; NTP; doexynucleotide metabolism; nucleosides; nucleoside kinases; allosteric regulation; biologisk kemi; biological chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Trypanosoma brucei causes African sleeping sickness in humans and Nagana in cattle. There are no vaccines available against the disease and the current treatment is also not satisfactory because of inefficacy and numerous side effects of the used drugs.T. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nucleoside analog toxicity and nucleoside kinase deficiency : effects on mitochondrial DNA

    Författare :Mia Bjerke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Nucleoside analogs are modified nucleosides used in treatment of cancer and viral infections. They are dependent on intracellular phosphorylation to be pharmacologically active. Deoxyribonucleoside kinases catalyze the rate-limiting step in the phosphorylation of many clinically used nucleoside analogs. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Identification and characterization of nucleoside and nucleotide kinases : pharmacological activation of anti-cancer and anti-viral nucleoside analogs

    Författare :An R Van Rompay; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cells require deoxyribonucleotides to synthesize DNA. Structurally modified precursors of deoxyribonucleotides, i.e. nucleoside analogs, are used as anti-viral and anti-cancer compounds. LÄS MER
