  1. 1. Gendering Nuclear Disarmament : Identity and Disarmament in Sweden during the Cold War

    Författare :Emma Rosengren; Thomas Jonter; Yvonne Svanström; Cecilia Åse; Towns Ann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Feminist theory; nuclear disarmament; nuclear weapons; gender nation sexuality; identity and policy; internationella relationer; International Relations;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation provides new knowledge about gender, nuclear weapons and disarmament. Previous feminist research has shown that in contexts where positive associations are made between military strength, masculinity and nuclear weapon possession, it is hard to imagine nuclear renunciation and disarmament as anything other than potential emasculation or feminization. 2. 2. The Prevalence of Radioactivity in a Number of Non-Nuclear Industries

    Författare :Torbjörn Gäfvert; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; zircon; ceramics industry; thorium; TIG welding; waterworks; calcium chloride; dicalcium phosphate; phosphate industry; non-nuclear industries; TENORM; Natural radioactivity; NORM;

    Sammanfattning : Four different non-nuclear industries have been investigated regarding the presence of radioactive elements, with the focus on natural radioactivity. The aim of the studies was to investigate the flow of radionuclides in the processes and/or to estimate doses to exposed workers. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Anthropogenic 129I Traced in Environmental Archives by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry

    Författare :Edvard Englund; Göran Possnert; Ala Aldahan; José María López-Gutiérrez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Engineering physics; iodine-129; sediment; aerosol; reprocessing; Chernobyl; nuclear weapon; Sellafield; La Hague; accelerator mass spectrometry; AMS; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Since the beginning of the nuclear era, starting during the 1940s, large amount of radioactivity has been released into the environment. This thesis deals with the temporal and spatial distribution of the anthropogenic radioisotope 129I (T1/2= 15.7 Myr) in northern Europe. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Controlling Weapons of Mass Destruction : An Evaluation of International Security Regime Significance

    Författare :Charles F. Parker; Michael Zürn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Political science; Regimes; security; international cooperation; compliance; weapons of mass destruction; arms control; non-proliferation; nuclear weapons; biological weapons; chemical weapons; NPT; BTWC; CWC; CTBT; Statsvetenskap; Political science; Statsvetenskap; statskunskap; Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation conducts an in-depth examination of the three weapons of mass destruction control regimes: the nuclear non-proliferation regime, the biological weapons control regime, and the chemical weapons control regime (NBC weapon control regimes). By examining a number of key indicators, this study investigates the specific ways each regime makes or does not make a difference in its respective issue area. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Accelerator mass spectrometry of 129I and its applications in natural water systems

    Författare :Nadia Buraglio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Ion Physics; jonfysik;

    Sammanfattning : During recent decades, huge amount of radioactive waste has been dumped into the earth's surface environments. 129I (T1/2 = 15.6 My) is one of the radioactive products that has been produced through a variety of processes, including atomic weapon testing, reprocessing of nuclear fuel and nuclear accidents.
