  1. 16. Studies of safety and critical work situations in nuclear power plants : a human factors perspective

    Författare :Lena Kecklund; Erik Hollnagel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Safety; nuclear power; operators; work-related factors; performance; human error; annual outage; MTO; Psychology; Psykologi; psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to develop and apply different approaches for analyzing safety in critical work situations in real work settings in nuclear power plants, and also to identify safety enhancing measures by using the framework of interaction between human, organizational and technical subsystems (MTO, man-technology-organization). A Cognitive Psychology as well as a Stress Psychology framework was used. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Studies of Nuclear Fuel Performance Using On-site Gamma-ray Spectroscopy and In-pile Measurements

    Författare :Ingvar Matsson; Anders Bäcklin; Ane Håkansson; Björn Grapengiesser; Riitta Kyrky-Rajamäki; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; fission gas release; nuclear fuel; core physics; gamma-ray spectroscopy; LOKET; thermal power; burnup; fuel failure; validation; cladding; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Presently there is a clear trend of increasing demands on in-pile performance of nuclear fuel. Higher target burnups, part length rods and various fuel additives are some examples of this trend. LÄS MER

  3. 18. 14C Produced by Nuclear Power Reactors - Generation and Characterization of Gaseous, Liquid and Solid Waste

    Författare :Åsa Magnusson; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste disposal; spent ion-exchange resins; mass balance assessment; Nuclear physics; environmental impact; Fysicumarkivet A:2007:Magnusson; nuclear power plant; Kärnfysik; Carbon-14;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents the results from studies on carbon-14 produced by nuclear power reactors. Radioactive 14C enters the carbon cycle and can be taken up by humans, where it will constitute a potential health hazard. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Modelling the Role of Nuclear Power and Variable Renewables in Climate Change Mitigation

    Författare :Mariliis Lehtveer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy system model; nuclear power; multi-criteria analysis; variable renewables; climate change; optimisation;

    Sammanfattning : As the number of people on Earth and our energy needs have increased the system for providing this energy has become ever more complex and complicated and thus the need for more systematic understanding of it has grown. However, change in energy system is slow and many of the challenges that we face such as mitigating climate change need global solutions. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Power Doppler - Principles and Potential Clinical Applications

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; PG Lindgren; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Ultrasonography; Doppler studies; Power Doppler; Volume flow; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this work was to: a) Determine whether the amount of colour in a power Doppler image is dependent on the angle between the examined vessel and the soundbeam and/or on the velocity of the flow within the vessel; b) Investigate if a dependency on flow velocity could be used for the detection of volume flow differences and c) Define clinical applications utilising the improved sensitivity to low flow of PD.In the experimental studies (study I and II) a silicon tube in a water bath was insonated, the insonation angle and the volume flow changed and the resulting images stored, transferred to a personal computer and analysed with regard to the amount of colour present in the image.
