  1. 1. Peroxiredoxins in Redox Signaling and Aging

    Författare :Friederike Roger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aging; Peroxiredoxin; Redox Signaling; Caloric restriction; light sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Peroxiredoxins have emerged as conserved modulators of the rate of aging in yeast and multicellular organisms and play a role in lifespan extension through the anti-aging intervention caloric restriction. Yet, it is not clear through what mechanism peroxiredoxins extend lifespan. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cerebral arterial pulsatility imaging using 4D flow MRI : methodological development and applications in brain aging

    Författare :Tomas Vikner; Anders Wåhlin; Anders Eklund; Jan Malm; Lars Nyberg; Susanne Schnell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic resonance imaging; 4D flow MRI; medical image analysis; cerebral hemodynamics; arterial pulsatility; DCE MRI; blood-brain barrier; white matter lesions; perivascular spaces; cerebral small vessel disease; hippocampus; cognition; aging; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Sammanfattning : 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly recognizedas a versatile tool to assess arterial and venous hemodynamics. Cerebral arterial pulsatility is typically assessed by analyzing flow waveforms over the cardiac cycle, where flow amplitude is a function of cardiac output, central arterial stiffness, and cerebrovascular resistance and compliance. 4. 4. Effect of Normal Aging on Emotional Processing and Impact of Emotion on Memory : Psychophysiological and Cognitive Findings

    Författare :Anne-Marie Aupée; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; Neurology; Pychophysiology; Memory; Emotion; Aging; Gender; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : It has long been thought that aging is accompanied by an emotional flattening. Although a different view has started to emerge recently, studies investigating psychophysiological responses in reaction to affective stimuli so far have reported an age-related reduction of the affective response. 5. 5. Organic solvents and cognitive functioning. With special reference to interaction with aging

    Författare :Linda Nordling Nilson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Solvents; occupational; neuropsychology; cognition; aging; chronic toxic encephalopathy; follow-up studies;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to study cognitive functioning in patients with chronic toxic encephalopathy (CTE) and in aging workers previously exposed to organic solvents. The discriminative power of a series of cognitive tests in identifying patients with CTE was examined. LÄS MER
