16. Synthesis and optical characterization of optical power limiting platinum(II) acetylides
Sammanfattning : Interactions between light and a molecule can result in reversible or irreversible changes in properties of both the light and the molecule. Of the many known interactions, nonlinear absorption is a process in which an intense light signal, for instance from a laser, can be moderated. LÄS MER
17. Modeling and Characterization of nonlinear Materials for Protection of Optical Sensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns nonlinear materials and experimental techniques for optical power limiting applications. Theoretical models to analyze and simulate related measurements were studied. Two different numerical modeling tools for propagation of optical radiation through optically nonlinear media were developed. LÄS MER
18. Formation and Dynamics of Molecular Excitons and their Fingerprints in Nonlinear Optical Spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : An efficient transfer of energy in molecular systems has proven to be of fundamental importance both in nature and industrial applications. The ability of molecules to work together forming collective excitations, so-called excitons, plays a key role in for example the extraordinary fast energy transfer involved in the first steps of photosynthesis. 19. Nonlinear Characterization of Wideband Microwave Devices and Dispersive Effects in GaN HEMTs
Sammanfattning : Measurements play a key role in the development of microwave hardware as they allow engineers to test and verify the RF performance on a system, circuit, and component level. Since modern cellular standards employ complex modulation formats with wider signal bandwidths to cope with the growing demand of higher datarates, nonlinear characterization using wideband stimuli is becoming increasingly important. 20. Acoustic characterization of orifices and perforated liners with flow and high-level acoustic excitation
Sammanfattning : This thesis is motivated by the need for noise control in aircraft engine with orifices and perforated liner. The presence of high-level acoustic excitation, different flow situations either bias flow, grazing flow or any combination in the aircraft engine, makes the acoustic behavior complex due to the interaction between sound and flow over the lined wall.
