  1. 1. An Experimental Study on the Dynamics of a Single Droplet Vapor Explosion

    Författare :Roberta Concilio Hansson; Weimin Ma; Geroges Berthoud; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; steam explosions; radiography; melt preconditioning; noncondensable gas; Low energy physics; Lågenergifysik;

    Sammanfattning : The present study aims to develop a mechanistic understanding of the thermal-hydraulic processes in a vapor explosion, which may occur in nuclear power plants during a hypothetical severe accident involving interactions of high-temperature corium melt and volatile coolant. Over the past several decades, a large body of literature has been accumulated on vapor explosion phenomenology and methods for assessment of the related risk. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanistic Modeling of Water Vapour Condensation in Presence of Noncondensable Gases

    Författare :Krzysztof Karkoszka; Henryk Anglart; Bengt Sundén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the analytical and numerical analysis of the water vapour condensation from the multicomponent mixture of condensable and noncondensable gases in the area of the nuclear reactor thermal-hydraulic safety.Following an extensive literature review in this field three aspects of the condensation phenomenon have been taken into consideration: a surface condensation, a liquid condensate interaction with gaseous mixtures and a spontaneous condensation in supersaturated mixtures. 3. 3. Theoretical investigation of water vapour condensation in presence of noncondensable gases

    Författare :Krzysztof Karkoszka; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Technology; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Steam condensation phenomenon plays an important role in many industrial applications. Especially in energy sector this process requires deep understanding. When noncondensable gases are taken into consideration description of the entire phenomenon becomes more complicated. LÄS MER
