  1. 6. Cell motility : the dynamics of the cortical weave of microfilaments and its relation to microtubules and coated vesicles in fibroblasts and glial cells

    Författare :Anna-Stina Höglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Actin and myosin, the major components of the microfilament system are found in most - if not all - eukaryotic cells. In muscle they form the basis of the contractile apparatus which generates the rapid, strong and unidirectional movements that characterizes muscle activity. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Conformational Flexibility in Protein Function: Dynamics of S100A4, Photosynthetic Reaction Centre and the Prenylating Enzymes UbiA and MenA

    Författare :Annette Duelli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Structural Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the most versatile macromolecules and they are essentially involved in the biological processes throughout all living organisms. The three dimensional structure of proteins and their dynamical properties underlie their biological function and knowledge about protein structure and dynamics contributes to a detailed understanding of biochemical processes. 3. 8. The dynamic microfilament system : cellular organization of actin and profilin and their association with cell signalling

    Författare :Lucie Hájková; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Zoological Cell Biology; zoologisk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Active shape changes and movement of whole cells, and translocations within cells are essential to life. For instance, during embryogenesis cell migration is a central theme. Wound healing depends on increased and directed motile activity of several cell types. LÄS MER

  4. 9. In vitro modelling of tau phosphorylating kinases : emphasis of Cdk5

    Författare :Anne Jämsä; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The main hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are extracellular deposits of betaamyloid (Aβ) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) composed of highly phosphorylated tau protein. Abnormal hyperphosphorylation of tau is the most deleterious step in NFT formation making the use of kinase inhibitors an attractive treatment possibility in AD. LÄS MER
