  1. 1. Non-Linear Vibration and Dynamic Fracture Mechanics of Bridge Cables

    Författare :Armando Leon; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cable Vibrations; Non-Linear Vibration; Dynamic Fracture Mechanics; Cable-Stayed Bridges; Dynamic Stress Intensity Factor;

    Sammanfattning : In the present work, the non-linear vibrations and the corresponding dynamic fracture mechanics of cables of cable-stayed bridges are studied. The cables are among the most critical components in cable-stayed bridges and there are different damage sources such as corrosion, vibration, fatigue and fretting fatigue that can significantly affect them, thereby reducing the cable’s service life and even producing their failure. 2. 2. Shear and Torsion in Concrete Structures Non-linear Finte Element Analysis in Design and Assessment

    Författare :Helén Broo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; torsion; box-girder bridge; hollow core unit; hollow core floor; non-linear finite element analysis.; shear; prestressed concrete; Reinforced concrete;

    Sammanfattning : For structural design and assessment of reinforced concrete members, non-linear finite element analysis has become an important tool. However, design and assessment of shear and torsion are still done with simplified analytical or empirical design methods. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Predicting shear type crack initiation and growth in concrete with non-linear finite element method

    Författare :Richard Malm; Håkan Sundquist; Anders Ansell; Kent Gylltoft; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; non-linear finte element analysis; concrete; crack width; crack propagation; shear; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning :   In this thesis, the possibility to numerically describing the behaviour that signifies shear type cracking in concrete is studied. Different means for describing cracking are evaluated where both methods proposed in design codes based on experiments and advanced finite element analyses with a non-linear material description are evaluated. 4. 4. Wave Loads on Offshore Wind Power Plants

    Författare :Jenny Trumars; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ocean engineering; shallow water; fatigue; Non-linear waves; wave load; wind energy converter; perturbation theory;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis gives a short introduction to waves and discusses the problem with non-linear waves in shallow water and how they effect an offshore wind energy converter. The focus is on the realisation of non-linear waves in the time domain from short-term statistics in the form of a variance density spectrum of the wave elevation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Structural Behaviour in Concrete Frame Corners of Civil Defence Shelters Non-linear Finite Element Analyses and Experiments

    Författare :Morgan Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blast load; non-linear finite element analyses; reinforcement detailing; spliced reinforcement; frame corners; civil defence shelters; impact load; concrete;

    Sammanfattning : From a safety point of view it is important that a concrete structure, apart from necessary load capacity, also is able to show ductile behaviour that allows redistribution of forces so that a local failure not lead to total collapse of the structure. A structure's ability to exhibit such behaviour is highly dependent on the reinforcement detailing of the joint connections between its independent members. LÄS MER
