  1. 1. Adenoviral small non-coding RNAs : A Structural and Functional Charaterization

    Författare :Wael Kamel; Göran Akusjärvi; Ben Berkhout; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :non-coding RNA miRNA mivaRNA canonical Dicer Ago2 TSS m7G Cap Adenovirus replication E2B;

    Sammanfattning : Since their discovery in 1953, adenoviruses have significantly contributed to the understanding of virus-host cell interactions, including mechanistic details of cellular processes such as cell cycle control and alternative RNA splicing. Among the first characterized adenoviral genes were the virus-associated RNAs (VA RNAI/II), which are produced in massive amount during a lytic infection. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The deep evolutionary roots of non-coding RNA - a comparative genomics approach

    Författare :Marc Patrick Hoeppner; Anthony M. Poole; Britt-Marie Sjöberg; Jürgen Brosius; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; non-coding RNA; evolution; comparative genomics; RNA world; introns; snoRNA; miRNA; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Non-coding RNAs (ncRNA) are a diverse group of genes that do not encode proteins but function exclusively on the level of RNA and were originally suggested to be remnants of a pre-DNA stage of life known as the RNA world. More recent work, however, has uncovered a rich repertoire of previously unknown families with possible consequences for our understanding of the origin and evolution of the modern RNA infrastructure. 3. 3. Characterization of non-coding RNAs in cancer

    Författare :Per Johnsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : While originally though to only code for proteins, it now stands clear that RNA is a multifunctional molecule involved in a great variety of molecular processes. Recent advances in genome-wide platforms have revealed underappreciated roles of non-protein coding RNAs (ncRNAs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of TGFβ signaling by long non-coding RNAs and ADP-ribosylation

    Författare :Panagiotis Papoutsoglou; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Peter Zaphiropoulos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; signal transduction; long non-coding RNAs; ADP-ribosylation; transcriptional regulation; chromatin remodeling; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) signaling pathways participate in embryonic development and tissue homeostasis and have a dual role in cancer. TGFβ acts as a tumor suppressor that promotes cell cycle arrest and apoptosis at initial stages of tumorigenesis. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of non-coding single-stranded oligonucleotides on Respiratory syncytial virus infection

    Författare :Sandra Axberg Pålsson; Anna-Lena Spetz; Annika Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Respiratory syncytial virus RSV ; single-stranded oligonucleotide ssON ; small non-coding RNA sncRNA ; nucleolin; virus infection; antiviral; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an enveloped RNA virus of the Pneumoviridae family. RSV is reported to infect host cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis, also called clathrin-dependent endocytosis. Many reports indicate that the virus utilizes the host receptor nucleolin for entry.
