1. Noise in the preschool : health and preventive measures
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on noise recordings and health evaluations carried out at preschools in the northern part of Sweden. Sound level recordings were made on individuals and by use of stationary devices in dining rooms and play halls. Health evaluations were based on ratings by use of questionnaires and by analyses of cortisol. LÄS MER
2. Prediction and Optimisation of Traffic Noise. A Study on Noise Barriers and Shielded Areas
Sammanfattning : The main contribution of noise levels in cities is today road traffic. The strongest source for all road vehicles is most often the tyre-road contact. This source position close to the ground is fortunate with respect to secondary noise abatement measures, such as absorbing road surfaces or noise barriers. LÄS MER
3. Tyre/road interaction : A holistic approach to the functional requirements of road surfaces regarding noise and rolling resistance
Sammanfattning : Increased fuel consumption, increased greenhouse gas emission, diminishing real-estate prices and increased health issues are some of the negative effects on the climate, on the environment and on the society from tyre/road rolling resistance and noise. The first two aspects are affected by energy dissipation in the tyre/pavement contact and are related to rolling resistance. LÄS MER
4. Soft measures to shift modality
Sammanfattning : Traffic accumulated by cars is responsible for considerable problems in our cities. The problem is partly about the negative effects on human health due to harmful particulate emissions, noise, traffic accidents and sedentary lifestyles, partly about the space it occupies, which leads to congestion, and the fact that valuable land is taken up by road infrastructure and parking lots. 5. Hearing-related symptoms among women - Occurrence and risk in relation to occupational noise and stressful working conditions
Sammanfattning : A considerable amount of research has been devoted to the risk of noise-induced hearing loss among industry workers – the majority of whom are men. Much less research has been done in female-dominated human service occupations, including obstetrical care and preschools. LÄS MER
