11. Hearing-related symptoms among women - Occurrence and risk in relation to occupational noise and stressful working conditions
Sammanfattning : A considerable amount of research has been devoted to the risk of noise-induced hearing loss among industry workers – the majority of whom are men. Much less research has been done in female-dominated human service occupations, including obstetrical care and preschools. LÄS MER
12. Non-Exhaust PM10 and Road Dust
Sammanfattning : Non-exhaust PM10 is an issue in the urban environment linked to health issues. Emissions of non-exhaust PM10 is relatable to pavement properties. Also of importance is resuspension of road dust stored from surfaces. This depends on the traffic and metrological conditions. LÄS MER
13. Modelling the acoustic performance of slab tracks
Sammanfattning : Transport is a major contributor to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. Railway transport has a small footprint compared to other means of transport. This is one reason for the construction of new high-speed railway lines world-wide. LÄS MER
14. Investigation and Optimization of the Acoustic Performance of Exhaust Systems
Sammanfattning : There is a strong competition among automotive manufacturers to reduce the radiated noise levels. One important source is the engine exhaust where the main noise control strategy is by using efficient mufflers. LÄS MER
15. Multi-Disciplinary Conceptual Design of Future Jet Engine Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes various aspects of the development of a multi-disciplinary aero engine conceptual design tool, TERA2020 (Techno-economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for 2020), based on an explicit algorithm that considers: engine performance, engine aerodynamic and mechanical design, aircraft design and performance, emissions prediction and environmental impact, engine and airframe noise, and production, maintenance and direct operating costs. As part of this research effort, a newly-derived semi-empirical NOx correlation for modern rich-burn single-annular combustors is proposed.
