41. Farm-based technologies for management of risks from irrigation with wastewater-polluted sources in Cochabamba, Bolivia
Sammanfattning : Wastewater irrigation is a global practice that allows reusing water and nutrients in agriculture, but also poses risks of introducing pathogens/pollutants into agricultural systems and food. In order to manage these risks, on-farm measures can be implemented as barriers along the pathway that pathogens/pollutants must follow to reach the population/place at risk, in cases where treatment plants are not a viable option. 42. The role of sediments in the biogeochemical cycles of nutrients in the Gulf of Riga
Sammanfattning : The sediment biogeochemistry of C, N, P and biologic silica (BSi) plays an important role in cycling of these elements in aquatic ecosystems. In shallow coastal and estuarine systems, water-sediment nutrient dynamics can influence biological processes (e.g., primary production) in overlying waters. LÄS MER
43. Regulatory Control of Autumn Senescence in Populus tremula
Sammanfattning : Autumn senescence is a visually spectacular phenomenon in which trees prepare for the oncoming winter. The mechanism for regulation of autumn senescence in trees has been very hard to pinpoint. In this thesis the main focus is to investigate how autumn senescence is regulated in aspens (Populus tremula). LÄS MER
44. Essays on environmental policy analysis : computable general equilibrium approaches applied to Sweden
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three essays within the field of applied environmental economics, with the common basic aim of analyzing effects of Swedish environmental policy. Starting out from Swedish environmental goals, the thesis assesses a range of policy-related questions. LÄS MER
45. Combined production of edible mushrooms and biofuels from lignocellulosic residues
Sammanfattning : Forest residues, wood-processing by-products and other lignocellulosic materials are promising renewable resources for bioconversion to advanced biofuels such as cellulosic ethanol. Increased production of biofuels from lignocellulosic materials would allow reducing environmental problems caused by the use of fossil resources while supporting development of bioeconomy. LÄS MER
