31. Micronutrients in cereal crops : impact of nutrient management and soil properties
Sammanfattning : Seven elements essential for plants are defined as micronutrients: boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), nickel (Ni) and zinc (Zn). Deficiency of these nutrients can cause yield losses in crops and impaired crop quality. LÄS MER
32. Associations among early-season root and shoot traits, nutrient use efficiency and grain yield of spring wheat
Sammanfattning : Nutrient-efficient and high-yielding spring wheat is needed in high-latitude regions. The aims of this thesis were: (1) to evaluate the effects of soil compaction and differential weather conditions on plant growth and grain yield, (2) to identify critical nutrient elements limiting plant growth and grain yield, and (3) to identify root and shoot traits at an early growth stage (early vigor) influencing nutrient use efficiency and grain yield of spring wheat. 33. Regional Nutrient Budgets in Forest Soils in a Policy Perspective
Sammanfattning : Sweden's forests are one of its most important natural resources, as well as being important from ecological and social perspectives. Nutrient sustainability is essential to maintain the production capacity and reduce the effects of acidification and eutrophication. LÄS MER
34. Catchment controls on mire properties in the post-glacial landscape
Sammanfattning : Mires are key ecosystems in the boreal biome which provide services related to carbon uptake, biodiversity, and regulation of hydrological and biogeochemical cycles. Minerogenic mires are supported by their upslope catchment area and underlying mineral soil, but a more detailed understanding and quantification of landscape drivers behind mire properties is needed. 35. Impact of tree species on carbon in forest soils
Sammanfattning : Different tree species differ in productivity, litter quality and quantity, canopy structure and nitrogen deposition. Norway spruce (Picea abies), Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and birch (Betula pendula and B. pubescens) are the three dominant tree species in Sweden. LÄS MER
