2. Academic Performance in Swedish Ninth Grade Students Treated for Brain Tumours
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate how children in Sweden treated for brain tumours performed in their ninth year at school compared with matched controls. The studies investigated grades and results from national tests in the theoretical subjects of Swedish, English, and mathematics; grades in the practical and aesthetic subjects of art, crafts, music, home and consumer studies, physical education and health; and the frequency of delayed graduation and qualification for school years 10-12 (corresponding to upper-secondary school or high school). 4. Studier av läsrelaterade språkliga förmågor i förskola och läsutveckling i grundskola
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this doctoral thesis was to explore relationships that impact language development, and how reading ability develops during the compulsory school years. The thesis includes four studies, study I (licentiate thesis), with students from grades 2–5, from 24 classrooms (N = 428), study II examined whether the National test (NP) was able to identify students with word decoding problems from a sample of third graders from study I (n= 112). Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this study is to highlight the counselling interview in connection with the choice of upper secondary school from three perspectives, the student's, the counsellor's and society's. The intention is to describe and analyse the counselling interview in the ninth grade with relation to: · the student's expectations, perceptions and values before and after the interviews, · the counsellor's perceptions and values after the interviews, · society's goals and purpose for student counselling in secondary schools and · the theories and models for career development and counselling.
