  1. 1. Soil phosphorus – a multidimensional resource that plays an important role for grassland plant species richness

    Författare :Jakob Sandberg; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; niche dimension; nutrient limitation; niche differentiation; competition; soil nitrogen; soil phosphorus; plant diversity; species richness; Grassland; land use; landscape scale;

    Sammanfattning : The semi-natural grassland habitats contain an important part of the plant diversity in Europe. Changes in farming practices have lead to drastic decreases in plant species richness. The aim of the present thesis is to contribute to the knowledge about mechanisms governing the plant species richness in grasslands with emphasis on soil nutrients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Shaping sustainable food systems : Local participation in addressing global challenges

    Författare :Aniek Hebinck; Line Gordon; Joost M. Vervoort; Stephan Barthel; Moya Kneafsey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SOCIAL SCIENCES; food systems; sustainability; food governance; transformative change; participatory processes; participation; civil society; niche level; food policy; urban food; urban agriculture; food poverty; imagined futures; foresight; vetenskap om hållbar utveckling; Sustainability Science;

    Sammanfattning : The current unsustainable trajectory of food systems puts the social and ecological processes and functions on which human flourishing depends at risk. This last decade has seen, on one hand, continued insistence on transformative action and on the other, uncertainty and instability with respect to traditional, established institutions, such as the state. 3. 3. The role of regeneration in plant niche differentiation and habitat specialization

    Författare :Dirk-Jan ten Brink; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; seed mass; seed size; drought; shade; seed germination; seed dormancy; seedling establishment; plant community ecology; assembly rules; habitat specialization; plant recruitment; Regeneration; niche differentiation; phylogenetic independent contrasts; plant traits; soil fertility; comparative ecology;

    Sammanfattning : To predict the effects of environmental change and nature management on the distribution of plant species, it is crucial to understand the mechanisms of plant niche differentiation and habitat specialization. The importance to habitat specialization of particular plant traits and requirement of the regenerative phase of the plants life has received scanty interest. LÄS MER

  4. 4. THE HYPOXIC HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELL NICHE Consequences of Hypoxia-induced Transcription on Stem Cell Fate

    Författare :Matilda Rehn; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is the process of blood formation that originates with the hematopoietic stem cell (HSC), a cell type that is responsible for the life-long supply of mature blood cells. HSCs are defined by their ability to self-renew as well as giving rise to differentiated cells of all blood lineages. LÄS MER

  5. 5. New Tides in Shipping : Studying incumbent firms in maritime energy transitions

    Författare :Ignė Stalmokaitė; Björn Hassler; Johanna Yliskylä-Peuralahti; Tommy Larsson Segerlind; René Taudal Poulsen; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; shipping; incumbent firms; maritime energy transitions; multi-level perspective; dynamic capabilities; regime-niche interactions; decarbonisation; air-borne emissions; sustainability transitions; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Shipping is a cornerstone of global transportation responsible for moving large volumes of traded goods. At the same time, negative environmental impacts of shipping operations have attracted growing concerns. LÄS MER
