  1. 16. Experimental septic shock – Effects of endotoxemia with special reference to pathophysiological responses in the pig

    Författare :Ewa Söderberg; Miklós Lipcsey; Mats B Eriksson; Anders Larsson; Jan Sjölin; Sten Lindahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endotoxin; inflammatory response; animal model; timing; steroid treatment; NGAL; Calprotectin; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis and septic shock are conditions, with severe outcome or in many cases death. Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response trigger by bacteraemia but systemic inflammatory response can also be triggered by major trauma, major surgery, pancreatitis, severe burns etc. LÄS MER

  2. 17. The function of annexin I in human neutrophils. Studies of membrane binding

    Författare :Charlotta Movitz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Human neutrophils; secretion; annexin I; grancalcin; subcellular organelles; lipid rafts; DIM;

    Sammanfattning : The neutrophil granulocyte plays an important role in host defense against infections induced by invading microorganisms. The defense mechanism is dependent on the migration of neutrophils from the blood stream to the infected area, where the intruder is phagocytosed and killed. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Allergen-induced late airways reaction in the pig : influence of endogenous and exogenous glucocorticoids

    Författare :Cecilia Fornhem; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ascaris suum; bronchial circulation; bronchial provocation test; budesonidecortisol; leukotrienes; eosinophil peroxidase; eosinophils; histamine; immunohistochemistry; metyrapone; minipig; myeloperoxidase; neutrophils; pig.;

    Sammanfattning : A novel model for studies of the allergen-induced late reaction in the lower airways was developed in the pig. The influence on late bronchial obstruction and granulocyte function of endogenous cortisol levels and treatment with the glucocorticoid budesonide (BUD) was evaluated. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Characterization of human myeloid progenitors and their differentiation

    Författare :Louise Edvardsson; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; extracellular fluids; Haematology; Medicin människa och djur ; thrombopoietin receptor; hematopoiesis; transcription factors; growth factor receptors; human myeloid progenitors; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : All hematopoietic cells are derived from the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a continuous and dynamic process, regulated by a network of transcription factors in different combinations and extrinsic signals from growth factors (GFs) and other factors in the microenvironment. In the initial stages of hematopoiesis HSCs differentiate to progenitor cells with gradually more restricted lineage potential and according to the most accepted model the first restriction in developmental potential results in commitment to either the lymphoid or the myeloid branch, in the latter followed by commitment to the neutrophil/monocyte and erythrocyte/megakaryocyte lineages. 5. 20. Mechanisms for Targeting of Proteins to Secretory Lysosomes of Haematopoietic Cells

    Författare :Hanna Rosén; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; extracellular fluids; haematopoietic cells; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; secretory lysosomes; protein targeting;

    Sammanfattning : The cells of the innate immune system are essential for the host's first line defence against infection. Among these cells the neutrophil granulocyte has a central role by the production of antibiotic proteins and peptides. LÄS MER
