16. Neuropsychological assessment of cognitive function in posttramatic stress disorder: a study of Bosnian war veterans
Sammanfattning : The present work assessed cognitive functions, such as attention, memory, and cognitive flexibility, in 20 Bosnian men with combat-related PTSD, acquired during the Balkan war 1992-1996. Veterans with chronic PTSD were tested – 7 years after the end of the hostilities – with a battery consisting of the Sustained Attention to Response Task, the Hayling Sentence Completion Test, the Trail Making Test, the Rivermead Behavioural Memory Test and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (verbal part); two questionnaires – Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test and the Posttraumatic Diagnostic Scale – were also administered. Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate how cognitive function and quality of life are affected by glioma surgery in the supplementary motor area (SMA) and the lower primary motor cortex (M1), as well as to explore possible changes in functional network connectivity after surgery in the SMA.Sixteen patients subject to resective neurosurgical procedures due to gliomas in either the SMA or the M1 were studied. 20. Functional communication and non-linguistic factors in severe aphasia : Associations and assessment
Sammanfattning : Severe post-stroke aphasia implies impairment of the ability to speak and write, and impairments of language comprehension, severely restricting the communication of the individual. Intervention in severe aphasia often entails aiming for access to meaningful social interaction and participation, in spite of the linguistic impairments. LÄS MER
