6. Cloning and characterization of neuropeptide Y receptors of the Y1 subfamily in mammals and fish
Sammanfattning : Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is an abundant neurotransmitter in the nervous system and forms a family of evolutionarily related peptides together with peptide YY (PYY), pancreatic polypeptide (PP) and polypeptide Y (PY). These peptides are ligands to a family of receptors that mediate a wide range of physiological effects including stimulation of appetite. LÄS MER
7. Studies of the Neuropeptide Y Receptor Y2 in Human and Zebrafish
Sammanfattning : The G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) comprise the largest family of receptors in humans and other vertebrates. They are embedded in the cell membrane and are activated by many different signaling molecules. Activation modulates cellular signal transduction pathways and influences many physiological processes. 8. Evolution and Pharmacology of Neuropeptide Y Receptors, Implications for vertebrate genome duplications
Sammanfattning : The Y receptors comprise a family of evolutionarily related receptors belonging to the superfamily of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR). Their natural ligands are in mammals neuropeptide Y (NPY), peptide YY (PYY) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP). LÄS MER
9. Neuropeptides and neurotrophic factors in epilepsy: seizure suppressant actions of VEGF, NPY and galanin
Sammanfattning : Epilepsy is a severe chronic neurological disorder, affecting about 1% of the population. The disease is manifested by spontaneous recurrent seizures, caused by hypersynchronized neuronal activity due to imbalance in the brain between the inhibition and excitation. LÄS MER
10. Neuropeptide Y Y1 receptor mechanisms in sympathetic vascular control
Sammanfattning : It was demonstrated that the Y1 receptor was the predominant vascular neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptor in pig kidney and hind limb as exogenous and endogenous NPY evoked vasoconstrictor responses that were almost or totally abolished by the selective non-peptide Y1 receptor antagonist, BIBP 3226. Furthermore, renal vasoconstriction was evoked by NPY and a peptide Y1 agonist, but not by a Y 2 agonist, and these responses were strongly reduced by another non-peptide Y, receptor antagonist, SR 120107A.
