21. Computational Modelling of Ligand Complexes with G-Protein Coupled Receptors, Ion Channels and Enzymes
Sammanfattning : Accurate predictions of binding free energies from computer simulations are an invaluable resource for understanding biochemical processes and drug action. The primary aim of the work described in the thesis was to predict and understand ligand binding to several proteins of major pharmaceutical importance using computational methods. LÄS MER
22. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation
Sammanfattning : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. LÄS MER
23. On the regulation of adenylate cyclase with ligands of the muscarinic cholinergic receptor and with neuropeptide Y

24. Central neuropeptide Y (NPH) expression and function : role in stress, experimental anxiety, and cognition
Sammanfattning : Neuropeptide Y (NPY), a 36 amino acid peptide abundantly expressed throughout the mammalian nervous system, has been implicated in experimental anxiety and stress related responses, feeding, and learning and memory. These functions are mediated via different receptor subtype populations (Y1-Y6), all belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily. LÄS MER
25. Evolution and Pharmacology of Receptors for Bradykinin and Neuropeptide Y in Vertebrates
Sammanfattning : The bradykinin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptors belong to the superfamily of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). The GPCRs form the largest class of therapeutic targets and it is therefore of great interest to investigate the pharmacological properties, functions and evolution of these receptors. LÄS MER
