  1. 1. Vibration-induced neuropathy in the hand

    Författare :Trygve Strömberg; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatology; orthopaedics; Surgery; vibrotactile sense.; vibration; Schwann cells; Raynaud’s phenomenon; peripheral neuropathy; pathology; neurone; nerve fibres; muscular weakness; hand; Carpal tunnel syndrome; cold intolerance; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to investigate clinical, pathophysiological and structural aspects of vibration-induced peripheral neuropathy since work with hand-held vibrating tools may lead to progressive neurological and vascular hand symptoms. Symptomatic vibration-exposed men were examined clinically and by neurography, tactilometry, and vibrometry and by measurement of temperature perception thresholds. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mechanisms controlling striatal projection neurone generation, from patterning to early differentiation

    Författare :Håkan Toresson; Klinisk minnesforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pbx; meis; sonic hedgehog; small eye; pax6; gsh2; gsh1; cerebral cortex; striatum; telencephalon; mutant; development; mouse; embryo; retinoic acid; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The striatum is part of the telencephalon, the most anterior part of the vertebrate brain. From when it first can be identified, telencephalic morphology is highly complex and a wide range of mechanisms has been suggested to participate in its induction, patterning and neurogenesis. 3. 3. Apoptosis And Excitotoxicity In The Death of Cultured And Grafted Dopaminergic Neurones

    Författare :Gabriele Schierle; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ac-YVAD-cmk; MK-801; flunarizine; N-methyl-D-aspartate; voltage-dependent calcium channels; Bcl-2; caspase; excitotoxicity; apoptosis; tyrosine hydroxylase; dopamine; Parkinson s disease; intracerebral transplantation; Poly ADP-ribose polymerase; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past two decades, grafting of embryonic nigral tissue has developed into a feasible therapeutic strategy for Parkinson's disease (PD). It has become apparent that the degree of restoration of dopaminergic neurotransmission by the transplanted cells is highly correlated to the symptomatic relief. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Odour detection in the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria: antennal structure and function

    Författare :Samuel Adhola Ochieng'; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; insect antennae; Olfaction; chemoreceptors; receptor neuron; electrophysiology; aggregation pheromone; SEM; TEM; Djurfysiologi; Animal physiology; Animal ethology and psychology; Djurs etologi och psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : The desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria, is a polymorphic insect that occurs in two morphological and physiological distinct phases, solitary and gregarious, depending on population density. The two phases are reversible at any developmental stage. The gregarious phase produces and uses stage-specific pheromones, that keep the swarm together. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Male moth behaviour and perception in pheromone plumes

    Författare :Peter Valeur; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurekologi; Animal ecology; Grapholita molesta; Noctuidae; Lepidoptera; Tortricidae; behaviour; electrophysiology; single cell; flight tunnel; sex pheromone; wind tunnel; radar; flight; pre-exposure; mechanisms of mating disruption; Agrotis segetum; choice test;

    Sammanfattning : Behaviour of male moths and electrophysiological responses of male pheromone-specific olfactory receptor neurones were studied in two model species, the oriental fruit moth Grapholita molesta and the turnip moth Agrotis segetum. The studies were aimed at elucidating the relative importance of different mating disruption mechanisms. LÄS MER
