  1. 1. Programming and updaing of reaching movements

    Författare :Sergei Perfiliev; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Reaching movements; motor cortex; central command; neuronal recording; trajectory updating; descending pathways; spinal cord lesions;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Correlations of Higher Order in Networks of Spiking Neurons

    Författare :Stojan Jovanovic; Stefan Rotter; John Hertz; Jeanette Hällgren Kotaleski; Jean-Philippe Bouchard; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Neuronal network; oscillations; correlations; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : The topic of this dissertation is the study of the emergence of higher-order correlations in recurrentlyconnected populations of brain cells.Neurons have been experimentally shown to form vast networks in the brain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Short- and long-term neuronal plasticity in hippocampal CA1 region of rat

    Författare :Fen-Sheng Huang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glutamate; hippocampus; plasticity; synapse; LTP; LTD; AMPA; NMDA;

    Sammanfattning : The brain is highly plastic, displaying both short- and long-term changes, resulting from developmental processes as well as learning and memory. Moreover, short-term plasticity such as paired pulse facilitation and depression (PPF, PPD) have long been used to monitor the presynaptic versus postsynaptic changes occurring during more lasting processes such as long-term potentiation and depression (LTP, LTD). 4. 4. Dissecting the intrastriatal neuronal circuitry that regulates direct and indirect striatal projections

    Författare :Henrike Planert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :basal ganglia;

    Sammanfattning : The basal ganglia (BG) are a group of subcortical nuclei that are interconnected in multiple parallel cortico-BG-thalamocortical loops. They have been implicated in many functions, among them action control and motor learning. The striatum forms the main input nucleus of the BG. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards a Translational Pain Model - Techniques and developments

    Författare :Leila Etemadi; Neuronano Research Center (NRC); []
    Nyckelord :UVB irradiation; Pain; Neuropeptides; Inflammation; Contralateral; Lateral spinal nucleus; Micro-array electrodes; Pan-neuronal markers; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Pain is a major health issue for each affected individual and has a large impact on health costs. Most of our knowledge about this defensive system rely on data from different animal experiments. There is an obvious need for a translational pain model allowing comparisons between experimental animals and humans. LÄS MER
