  1. 6. Long-term neurogenesis after stroke in the adult rat brain

    Författare :Pär Thored; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; embryologi människa ; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryology human ; ontogeny; Development biology; teratology; Stroke; Stem Cells; Neurogenesis; neurofysiologi; Clinical biology; Klinisk biologi; Neurologi; neuropsykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability for which there is no treatment for functional recovery. Following stroke, striatal neurogenesis is increased, with newly formed neuroblasts migrating towards the damage. This response has so far been considered acute and transient. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Regulation of postnatal neurogenesis and brain angiogenesis by thyroid hormone

    Författare :Jenny Liqun Zhang; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :thyroid hormone; neurogenesis; angiogenesis; SVZ OB; hippocampus; neural stem cells; endothelial cells; astrocytes;

    Sammanfattning : Thyroid hormone (TH), which is secreted by the thyroid gland, exerts significant effects on the central nervous system (CNS), especially during development, so that delayed treatment of perinatal hypothyroidism results in severe cognitive retardation. Continuous postnatal neurogenesis occurs throughout adulthood in the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the lateral ventricle wall and in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampal formation. 3. 8. The effect of astrocytes and reactive gliosis on neurogenesis and astrogenesis in mice

    Författare :Åsa Widestrand; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; astrocytes; intermediate filaments; neural stem cells; neurogenesis; astrogenesis; hippocampus;

    Sammanfattning : Astrocytes are the most common cell type in mammalian central nervous system (CNS). Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and vimentin constitute intermediate filaments (known also as nanofilaments), a part of the cytoskeleton, in astrocytes. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Neurogenesis and gliogenesis after focal brain ischemia. Modulation by enriched environment and exercise

    Författare :Mila Komitova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :astrocyte; hippocampus; neural progenitor cells; neural stem cells; neurogenesis; neurotrophins; rat; regeneration; rehabilitation; stroke;

    Sammanfattning : New neurons are formed from dividing neural stem cells in restricted areas in the adult mammalian brain: the dentate gyrus of the hippocampal formation (DG) and the forebrain subventricular zone (SVZ). New glia also form constitutively and seem to be important for neuronal function. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Sox proteins and neurogenesis

    Författare :Magnus Sandberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The primordium of the central nervous system is specified in a process called neural induction at which point the ectoderm is subdivided into the epidermal ectoderm and the neural plate. With time the neural plate will thicken, fold and form the neural tube. LÄS MER
