  1. 1. Genetic studies of neuroblastoma with emphasis on the apoptotic pathway

    Författare :Frida Abel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :child; cancer; neuroectodermal; neural crest; loss of heterozygosity; LOH; bcl-2; mcl-1; apaf-1; caspase-2; caspase-3; caspase-9; PIN; DLC-1; caspase-2;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The objective of this thesis was to find genes and chromosomal regions involved in neuroblastoma (NB) tumor progression. NB is a childhood tumor of the sympathetic nervous system that generally occurs spontaneously. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A preclinical therapy model for childhood neuroectodermal tumours

    Författare :Isabell Hultman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Childhood cancers show fundamental differences to most common adult solid tumours in their cancer-causing genetics, cell biology and their local tissue microenvironment. Effective treatments will be attainable when the molecular events that are specific to childhood tumourigenesis are better understood. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Expression and localisation of somatostatin receptor subtype 2a in neuroendocrine cells and cells of neuroectodermal origin

    Författare :Sayed Hossein Hashemi; Göteborgs universitet; []

  4. 4. Pluripotent stem cell-derived teratoma presents an embryonic neoplastic niche for in vivo studies of neuroectodermal childhood tumors

    Författare :Seema Jamil; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Therapy-resistance and relapse remain problematic in many cancer patients, despite the advancement in anti-cancer therapies. There is a constant need of developing new anti-cancer drugs to combat tumors keeping in mind also the increasing incidence rate of cancers as well as the incidences of relapse. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Importance of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor and EWS/FLI-1 fusion protein in growth and survival of two different types of neuroectodermal tumor cells

    Författare :Min Wang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment with comparatively low doses of the 3-hydroxy-3-metylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor lovastatin caused growth arrest in both melanoma cells and Ewing's sarcoma (ES) cells. In melanoma cells growth inhibition was correlated with a drastic decrease in N-linked glycosylation of the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), which in turn was followed by a decreased expression of IGF-1 binding sites at the cell surface.
