  1. 11. Architectural Evolution of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) using Cloud Computing

    Författare :Robayet Nasim; Andreas Kassler; Anna Brunström; Franz J. Hauck; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ITS; cloud computing; OpenStack; virtualization; asynchronous communication; publish subscribe system; scalability; distributed architecture; QoS; latency.; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : With the advent of Smart Cities, Intelligent Transport System (ITS) has become an efficient way of offering an accessible, safe, and sustainable transportation system. Utilizing advances in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), ITS can maximize the capacity of existing transportation system without building new infrastructure. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Performance, Isolation and Service Guarantees in Virtualized Network Functions

    Författare :Muhammad Siraj Rathore; Peter Sjödin; Markus Hidell; Andrea Bianco; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NFV; virtual router; service guarantee; scheduling; rate control; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : A network is generally a collection of different hardware-based network devices carrying out various network functions, (NF). These NF implementations are special purpose and expensive. Network function virtualization (NFV) is an alternative which uses software-based implementation of NFs in inexpensive commodity servers. 3. 13. Improving Soft Real-time Performance of Fog Computing

    Författare :Vaclav Struhar; Moris Behnam; Seyed Mohammad Hossein Ashjaei; Alessandro Papadopoulos; Silviu Craciunas; Ivona Brandic; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fog computing; real-time systems; cloud; virtualization; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Fog computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings data processing from remote cloud data centers into the vicinity of the edge of the network. The computation is performed closer to the source of the data, and thus it decreases the time unpredictability of cloud computing that stems from (i) the computation in shared multi-tenant remote data centers, and (ii) long distance data transfers between the source of the data and the data centers. Sammanfattning : Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) are emerging as the most popular accelerator for many applications, powering the core of Machine Learning applications and many computing-intensive workloads. GPUs have typically been consideredas accelerators, with Central Processing Units (CPUs) in charge of the mainapplication logic, data movement, and network connectivity. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Performance Modelling and Simulation of Service Chains for Telecom Clouds

    Författare :Michel Gokan Khan; Javid Taheri; Andreas Kassler; Johan Tordsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Performance Modelling; Performance Optimization; Performance Simulation; Network Function Virtualization; Cloud Native Computing; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : New services and ever increasing traffic volumes require the next generation of mobile networks, e.g. 5G, to be much more flexible and scalable. The primary enabler for its flexibility is transforming network functions from proprietary hardware to software using modern virtualization technologies, paving the way of virtual network functions (VNF).
