  1. 1. Optimization of process integration investments under energy market uncertainties

    Författare :Elin Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stochastic programming; scenario-based modelling; investment planning; process integration;

    Sammanfattning : The increased climate concern in society puts pressure on industries to decrease their energy use in different ways, and a number of studies show that there is a large potential for improved energy efficiency in the energy-intensive industry, for example through process integration. Uncertainties about future energy prices and policy instruments make it, however, difficult to evaluate and compare different kinds of energy-saving measures with respect to net present value as well as reduction of CO2 emissions. 2. 2. Prediction of power and energy use in dwellings : Addressing apects of thermal mass and occupant behaviour

    Författare :Victor Fransson; Avdelningen för Installations- och klimatiseringslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadssimulering; Termisk massa; Värmetröghet; boendes beteende; hushållsel; varmvatten; building simulation; thermal mass; thermal inertia; occupant behaviour; household electricity; domestic hot water;

    Sammanfattning : Households are responsible for approximately 26 % of the annual energy use in the EU. Following the EU-directives regarding energy performance in buildings, international initiatives have been taken in Europe to help countries to define and include guidelines in their own building codes, for example, to establish the concept of zero energy buildings, ZEBs. 3. 3. PV water pumping systems for grassland and farmland conservation

    Författare :Pietro Elia Campana; Jinyue Yan; Bengt Perers; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Grassland degradation is considered as one of the worst environmental and economic problems in China because of the negative impacts on water and food security. The application of the photovoltaic water pumping (PVWP) technology for irrigation is an innovative and sustainable solution to curb the progress of grassland desertification and to promote the conservation of farmland in remote areas. 4. 4. Transition delay in boundary-layer flows via reactive control

    Författare :Nicolò Fabbiane; Dan S. Henningson; Shervin Bagheri; Denis Sipp; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flow control; drag reduction; net energy saving; adaptive control; model-based control; optimal control; flat-plate boundary layer; laminar-to- turbulent transition; plasma actuator; direct numerical simulation; in-flight experiments; strömningsstyrning; friktionsreduktion; netto energibesparing; adaptiv styrning; modellbaserad styrning; optimal kontroll; gränsskikt öve en plan platta; laminärt till turbulent omslag; plasma aktuator; DNS; flyg prov; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Transition delay in boundary-layer flows is achieved via reactive control of flow instabilities, i.e. Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) waves. Adaptive and model-based control techniques are investigated by means of direct numerical simulations (DNS) and experiments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Energy efficiency and carbon dioxide mitigation in building stocks-

    Författare :Erika Mata Las Heras; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the implementation of energy-saving measures (ESM) in existing building stocks from an energy systems perspective. The effects of the measures are assessed in terms of net and delivered energy levels, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and the costs for implementing the measures. LÄS MER
