  1. 1. The inflammatory response to arterial injury

    Detta är en avhandling från Exp. Kardiovask. Forsk., Wallenberg Lab. Ingång 46 Plan 1 UMAS 205 02 Malmö

    Författare :Paul Dimayuga; [2001]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular system; neointima; arterial injury; inflammation; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis as a disease is postulated to stem from a response to injury of the arterial wall by various stimuli. The inflammatory response is proposed to mediate intimal formation after injury. One pathway of cellular response to injury is through transcription factor NF-kB. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Signal transduction in restenosis and myocardial protection by hyperoxia

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Författare :Arno Ruusalepp; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2006]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neointima; inflammation; NF-kappaB; preconditioning; MAPK; nitric oxide;

    Sammanfattning : Ischemic heart disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the western world. Revascularization of ischemic myocardium is essential for cell survival, and is performed by thrombolysis, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) and by coronary artery bypass grafting. 3. 3. Development of intimal hyperplasia in transplant arteriosclerosis

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Surgical Science

    Författare :Piotr Religa; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2003]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular disease is the main cause of disability and mortality in the western world and the major limiting factor for long- term survival of transplanted organs. Occlusive vascular lesions lead to ischemia and structural changes in organs and in transplant arteriosclerosis and restenosis after endovascular procedures, narrowing of the vessel lumen is partly due to intimal hyperplasia caused by smooth muscle cells (SMCs). 4. 4. Vascular repair mechanisms : Experimental, physiological and clinical studies

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Författare :Anton Razuvajev; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2009]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of global mortality and physical disability mainly due to the complications of atherothrombosis such as myocardial infarction or stroke. Surgical treatment directed to prevent this conditions is limited by the extensive healing response, intimal hyperplasia. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Developmental origin and molecular regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

    Författare :Per Wasteson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2008]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; smooth muscle cell; aorta; cell origin; lateral plate mesoderm; paraxial mesoderm; lipoma preferred partner; serum response factor; neointimal hyperplasia; angiotensin II; platelet-derived growth factor-B;

    Sammanfattning : Several pathologies of the vascular system have been suggested to be dependent on the smooth muscle cells (SMCs) that build up the vessel wall. Aortic SMCs have been proposed to derive from lateral plate mesoderm. LÄS MER
