Sammanfattning : This thesis was begun in 1998 at a time when increased numbers of police reports regarding child physical abuse was presented. The increase had been overshadowed by the research on the sexual abuse of children and showed that child physical abuse in Sweden had only been scarcely investigated since the institution of the Swedish anti spanking law in 1979. Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to describe mild intellectual disability (ID) from various neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric perspectives in children and young adults. Paper I The objective of the first paper was to analyse coexisting neurodevelopmental disorders/problems and diagnostic concerns in a population-based group of 33 school age children with mild ID. Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this PhD project was to assess the quality of intrapartum care at healthcare facilities offering maternity services in Rwanda by investigating healthcare pro- viders’ management of labour and birth and women’s childbirth experiences. Sammanfattning : Mental health is a major child public health issue in Sweden.
