1. Magnetooptical properties of dilute nitride nanowires
Sammanfattning : Nanostructured III-V semiconductors have emerged as one of the most promising materials systems for future optoelectronic applications. While planar III-V compounds are already at the center of the ongoing lighting revolution, where older light sources are replaced by modern white light LEDs, fabricating such materials in novel architectures, such as nanowires and quantum dots, creates new possibilities for optoelectronic applications. 2. Pyrolysis of Biodegradable Waste for Negative Carbon Emissions
Sammanfattning : Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage represents a crucial technology that enables an energy production with negative carbon emissions, which is needed to achieve global climate goals. Appropriated management of biodegradable waste, including biodegradable lignocellulosic waste, sewage sludge, organic fraction of municipal solid waste, can make this contribution. LÄS MER
3. Exposing the Exposures : Assessing occupational aerosol exposures and their possible health and toxicological effects
Sammanfattning : According to the Global Burden of Disease study, occupational exposures to particulates, gases and fumes were responsible for 0.36 million deaths and 8.8 million disability-adjusted life years globally in 2015. LÄS MER
4. Water-in-diesel emulsion and microemulsion fuels -The effect of water on emission levels
Sammanfattning : Water-in-diesel emulsions are known as environmentally favourable alternatives to conventional diesel fuel. Introducing water into the combustion results in reduced emissions of the health hazardous components nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). The concept of using emulsions is advantageous as it is easy to replace regular diesel. LÄS MER
5. Effects of Safety Measures for Pedestrians and Cyclists at Crossing Facilities on Arterial Roads
Sammanfattning : The principal aims of this thesis are to define suitable measures for safer pedestrian and cycle crossings on arterial roads, to implement these measures on a large scale and to acquire an insight into their effects on road users' safety, experiences, mobility and the environment, by creating a 30 km/h milieu at the above crossings. Two characteristically different types of measures, physical measures and variable message signs, based on three principles, lower speed, no priority and improved and relevant information, are tested within the framework of this project.
