  1. 1. Electron transport properties of graphene and graphene field-effect devices studied experimentally

    Författare :Youngwoo Nam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dual-gated graphene field effect devices; thermopower; quantum Hall effect; graphene; Aharonov-Bohm effect; chemical vapour deposition;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis contains experimental studies on electronic transport properties of graphene with the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect, thermopower (TEP) measurements, dual-gated graphene field effect devices, and quantum Hall effect (QHE). Firstly, in an effort to enhance the AB effect in graphene, we place superconducting-metal (aluminium) or normal-metal (gold) mirrors on the graphene rings. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Defects, renormalization and conformal field theory

    Författare :Alexander Söderberg Rousu; Agnese Bissi; Pedro Liendo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; defects; boundaries; replica twist defect; conformal field theory; quantum field theory; Coleman-Weinberg mechanism; renormalization group flows; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Defects in quantum field theories appear in many different contexts and are of great physical interest. Among other things, defects are used to describe the Kondō effect in condensed matter, confinement in quantum chromodynamics, Rényi entropy in quantum information and cosmic strings in string theory. 3. 3. Near-Field Study of Multiple Interacting Jets : Confluent Jets

    Författare :Shahriar Ghahremanian; Bahram Moshfegh; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multiple interacting jets; confluent jets; axisymmetric round jet; Low Reynolds number jet; Particle Image Velocimetry PIV ; Laser Doppler Anemometry LDA ; Hot-Wire anemometry HWA ; RANS turbulence models; SST ? − ?; Low Reynolds ? − ?; Response Surface Method;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the near-field of confluent jets, which can be of interest in many engineering applications such as design of a ventilation supply device. The physical effect of interaction between multiple closely spaced jets is studied using experimental and numerical methods. LÄS MER

    Författare :Nazli Ismail; Laust Pedersen; Bulent Tezkan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetotelluric; radio magnetotelluric; controlled-source tensor magnetotelluric; plane wave; near surface geophysics; sediment; fracture zone; inversion; forward modelling; near field effect; two-dimensional model; three-dimensional model; resolution; Geophysics; Geofysik; Earth Sciences with Specialization Environmental Analysis; geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Hydrology; hydrologi; mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Sammanfattning : An integrated use of radio magnetotelluric (RMT) and controlled source tensor magnetotelluric (CSTMT) measurements, the so-called CSRMT method, has been employed in environmental and resource exploration studies. A number of case histories, including a groundwater investigation in glacial deposits, a study of fracture zones for geotechnical purposes and a mining exploration study of a copper deposit, are presented in this thesis in order to illustrate the usefulness and capability of the CSRMT method. 5. 5. Residual Stress Distributions in Additively Manufactured Parts : Effect of Build Orientation

    Författare :Prabhat Pant; Ru Lin Peng; Johan Moverare; Kjell Simonsson; Jonathan Almer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; Residual stress; Neutron diffraction; FEM;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM) of parts using a layer by layer approach has seen a rapid increase in application for production of net shape or near-net shape complex parts, especially in the field of aerospace, automotive, etc. Due to the superiority of manufacturing complex shapes with ease in comparison to the conventional methods, interest in these kinds of processes has increased.
