  1. 1. Human response to wind turbine noise : perception, annoyance and moderating factors

    Författare :Eja Pedersen; Sten Ljunggren; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Noise; Environmental exposure; Wind; Audio-visual interaction; Low-level noise exposure; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; wind turbines; noise annoyance; sound perception; audio-visual interaction; low-level noise exposure;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aims of this thesis were to describe and gain an understanding of how people who live in the vicinity of wind turbines are affected by wind turbine noise, and how individual, situational and visual factors, as well as sound properties, moderate the response.Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in a flat, mainly rural area in Sweden, with the objective to estimate the prevalence of noise annoyance and to examine the dose-response relationship between A-weighted sound pressure levels (SPLs) and perception of and annoyance with wind turbine noise. 2. 2. Tools for Designing Mobile Interaction with the Physical Environment in Outdoor Lessons

    Författare :Johan Eliasson; Teresa Cerratto Pargman; Robert Ramberg; Ola Knutsson; Lyn Pemberton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Human-Computer Interaction; Design Tools; Concept-Driven Design; Mobile Learning; Design-Based Research DBR ; Outdoor Lessons; Field Trips; Design Theory; Design Process; Distraction; Man-Machine-Interaction MMI ; människa-maskin-interaktion MMI ;

    Sammanfattning : Mobile technologies are increasingly being used to support students in outdoor learning activities. For instance, in a growing number of research projects, smartphones and positioning technologies are being used to support students in exploring the natural environment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Outdoor heat in urban areas - Model development and applications

    Författare :Nils Wallenberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mean radiant temperature; Urban Climate; SOLWEIG; Outdoor Thermal Comfort;

    Sammanfattning : Heat waves and high outdoor air temperature can lead to heat stress with negative implications for human health and wellbeing such as heat stroke, heat cramps, dehydration and in extreme cases death. The urban population is at higher risk of such outcomes because of the generally warmer urban climate. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Staging urban emergence through collective creativity: Devising an outdoor mobile augmented reality tool

    Författare :Hyekyung Imottesjo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Urban Rules; Emergent processes; outdoor mobile augmented reality; Compact city; Complex adaptive systems; Urban resilience; collaborative design; research-through-design;

    Sammanfattning : The unpredictability of global geopolitical conflicts, economic trends, and impacts of climate change, coupled with an increasing urban population, necessitates a more profound commitment to resilience thinking in urban planning and design. In contrast to top-down planning and designing for sustainability, allowing for emergence to take place seems to contribute to a capacity to better deal with this complex unpredictability, by allowing incremental changes through bottom-up, self-organized adaptation made by diverse actors in the proximity of various social, economical and functional entities in the urban context. 5. 5. Object Detection and Recognition in Unstructured Outdoor Environments

    Författare :Ahmad Ostovar; Thomas Hellström; Ola Ringdahl; Mårten Björkman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer vision; Deep Learning; Harvesting Robots; Automatic Detection and Recognition; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : Computer vision and machine learning based systems are often developed to replace humans in harsh, dangerous, or tedious situations, as well as to reduce the required time to accomplish a task. Another goal is to increase performance by introducing automation to tasks such as inspections in manufacturing applications, sorting timber during harvesting, surveillance, fruit grading, yield prediction, and harvesting operations.
