  1. 6. Methods for elucidating membrane protein structure and function

    Författare :Carolina Trkulja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; patch clamp; antibodies; mass spectrometry; ion channels; proteomics; fluorescence; TRPV1; cholesterol.; limited proteolysis; Membrane proteins;

    Sammanfattning : Elucidation of the structure-function relationship of membrane proteins increases our understanding of many biological processes, both physiological and pathological. However, membrane proteins have been notoriously difficult to study, having part of their structure embedded into the lipid cell membrane. LÄS MER

  2. 7. The Role of Fc gamma Receptors and Mast Cell Chymase in Autoimmune Arthritis

    Författare :Sofia Magnusson; Sandra Kleinau; Jeanette Leusen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fc gamma receptors; rheumatoid arthritis; antibodies; mast cells; mast cell; Immunology; Immunologi; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : In autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), self-reactive antibodies are present at high levels, which contributes to disease pathogenesis. The antibodies mediate their effect predominantly by binding to Fc gamma receptors (FcγR) on various leukocytes, such as monocytes, macrophages and mast cells, where FcγR ligation leads to cell activation. 3. 8. Computational analyses of biological sequences -applications to antibody-based proteomics and gene family characterization

    Författare :Mats Lindskog; Mathias Uhlén; Fredrik Sterky; Andersson Björn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antigen; antibodies; antibody-based proteomics; biocomputing; bioinformatics; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Following the completion of the human genome sequence, post-genomic efforts have shifted the focus towards the analysis of the encoded proteome. Several different systematic proteomics approaches have emerged, for instance, antibody-based proteomics initiatives, where antibodies are used to functionally explore the human proteome. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Development and Evaluation of Tools to Explore Posttranslational HexNAc-Tyrosine and Mucin-Type O-Glycosylation

    Författare :Sandra Behren; Ulrika Westerlind; Mikael Elofsson; Carmen Galan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glycopeptides; mucins; mucin type-O-glycosylation; microarrays; tyrosine-O-HexNAcylation; lectins; MUC1 cancer vaccines; TcdA; LecB; galectins; LacdiNAc; antibodies; biologisk kemi; biological chemistry; Biorganic Chemistry; bioorganisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Glycosylation is the most abundant form of post-translational modification (PTM). Recently, O-glycosylation attracted much attention in the glycoproteomic field due to its association with various diseases, such as pathogenic infections and cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Characterization of Physiological and Pathological Alpha-Synuclein : Implications for Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders

    Författare :Leire Almandoz Gil; Joakim Bergström; Martin Ingelsson; Kostas Vekrellis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-synuclein; Aggregation; Parkinson’s disease; Dementia with Lewy bodies; Oxidative stress; Antibodies; Synapses; SNARE; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Aggregated alpha-synuclein is the main component of Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites, intraneuronal inclusions found in the brains of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) patients (synucleinopathies). Alpha-synuclein is a presynaptic protein, which is most commonly an unfolded monomer in its physiological state. LÄS MER
