1. "Wahrscheinlich sollte man reden miteinander" : Die narrativen Modi als Mittel der Gestaltung von Ehe und Beziehungsproblemen in Martin Walsers Novelle "Ein fliehendes Pferd"
Sammanfattning : This thesis is centrally concerned both to investigate the depiction of marriage and relation-ship problems in Martin Walser's 'Ein fliehendes Pferd' ('A Runaway Horse') while at the same time giving a careful account of narrative techniques (notably free indirect discourse) and shedding light on their function. In terms of method, the two-fold aim entails on the one hand a thoroughgoing examination of prior material on the novella and on the other a critical discussion of certain defining models of narrative theory – whereby concepts such as narra-tive situation, modus, perspective and focalization are subjected to fresh scrutiny. 2. Talet om learner autonomy : språkinlärning, autonomi och ett demokratiskt medborgarskap - ett gränsland till moralfilosofi
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to clarify a number of meanings embedded in the discourse that frames the concept of learner autonomy and then place special emphasis on the concepts of autonomy and citizenship. In addition the thesis has three subgoals: to revitalize an early political dimension that aims at democratic citizenship, to investigate how the discourse of learner autonomy is expressed in national curricula and in syllabuses in English and French/German/Spanish for the Swedish upper secondary school and to clarify and discuss a number of possible didactic consequences of a revitalized concept of learner autonomy. 3. The Europeanization of Swedish Alcohol Policy
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to study the Europeanization of Swedish alcohol policy from 1995-2006. It analyses the development of Swedish and European alcohol policy and answers the following research questions: How has alcohol policy developed on the national and the EU level during this period? What are the Swedish alcohol policy initiatives on the EU level? What does the interplay between Swedish and European policy processes look like? Of interest for this dissertation is also how the Swedish view on alcohol policy has been received on EU level. LÄS MER

5. ‘A Machine for Living’ : Urban Domesticity in Polish Literature and Cinema 1969–2008
Sammanfattning : The aim of this dissertation is to study urban domesticity in Polish film and literature against the background of the political and social transformations that have taken place in recent decades. The study begins with the so-called belle époque of the Polish People’s Republic and the decade of Edward Gierek, continues through the political upheavals, the period of martial law, and the system transformation of 1989 and the two following decades, which have been marked by the introduction of democracy, global capitalism, consumerism etc. LÄS MER
