16. Nanowire Transistors and RF Circuits for Low-Power Applications
Sammanfattning : The background of this thesis is related to the steadily increasing demand of higher bandwidth and lower power consumption for transmitting data. The work aims at demonstrating how new types of structures, at the nanoscale, combined with what is referred to as exotic materials, can help benefit in electronics by lowering the consumed power, possibly by an order of magnitude, compared to the industry standard, silicon (Si), used today. 17. Vertical III-V/High-k Nanowire MOS Capacitors and Transistors
Sammanfattning : The emerging nanowire technology in recent years has attracted an increasing interest for high-speed, low-power electronics due to the possibility of a gate-all-around (GAA) geometry enabling aggressive gate length scaling, together with the ease in incorporating high-mobility narrow band gap III-V semiconductors such as InAs on Si substrates. These benefits make vertical nanowire transistors an attractive alternative to the planar devices. LÄS MER
18. III-V Nanowire-based Infrared Photodetectors : Design, Fabrication and Characterization
Sammanfattning : Semiconductors are the backbone of almost every electrical or optical component, one of them being photodetectors. Photodetectors are used in many applications such as digital cameras or solar panels. They can also be designed to detect the omnipresent infrared radiation, discovered in 1800, which is invisible to human eye. LÄS MER
19. Cooling of a Suspended Nanowire by an ac Josephson current
Sammanfattning : Nanoelectromechanical systems have been used for the exploration of the quantum limit of mechanical motion. There is hope that the quest for the quantum regime of these systems will shed light on fundamental questions in physics and lead to new quantum technologies. LÄS MER
20. Optical Imaging for Nanowire Mechanics
Sammanfattning : In this work, we present a stroboscopic detection technique for the study of oscillating nanoscale objects. This optical read-out gives a position accuracy better than 1 nm which is a fraction of both the diffraction limit and the pixel size. LÄS MER
