1. Novel Functionalized Nanopores for Plasmonic Sensing
Sammanfattning : Nanoplasmonic sensors offer a label-free platform for real-time monitoring of biomolecular interactions by tracking changes in refractive index through optical spectroscopy. However, other surface sensitive techniques such as conventional surface plasmon resonance offer similar capabilities with equal or even better resolution in terms of surface coverage. LÄS MER
2. New Nanopores for Combined Plasmonic and Electrical Sensing
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, several kinds of artificial plasmonic biosensors are introduced. They havedifferent nanostructures which are nanoholes, nanowells and nanopores. The fabricationtechnologies are introduced. All these nanostructures are fabricated based on colloidallithography technology and following by several special steps. LÄS MER
3. Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) Polymer Brush Functionalized Nanostructures as Thermo-Responsive Gating Systems for Protein Transportation
Sammanfattning : Controlling molecule translocation through nanosized gaps is of great interest in novel systems for single molecule analysis and biomolecular membranes. The molecular gating property of thermo-responsive end-grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) polymer brushes on well-shaped gold-silica nanostructures is intended to be investigated for controlled protein transportation via extinction spectroscopy and fluorescence microscopy methods below and above PNIPAM lower critical solution temperature (LCST; 32 °C in water). 4. Biomolecule Trapping With Stimuli-Responsive Polymer Coated Nanostructures
Sammanfattning : Trapping biomolecules in nanosized gaps is of great interest in novel systems for single molecule analysis and membranes, which filter biomolecules. Current platforms are lacking in full functionality to facilitate biomolecule trapping and transport in their native environment and without covalent tethering to surfaces. LÄS MER
5. Novel tools for the study and diagnosis of bacterial infections : exploring the intersection of microbiology and microfabrication
Sammanfattning : The alarming increase in antibiotic resistance calls for new approaches to study and diagnose bacterial infections. In my thesis, I worked at the intersection of microbiology, microfabrication, and optical probes to develop novel diagnostic and screening assays for microbiology and elucidate bacterial pathogenesis in urinary tract infections (UTI).
