  1. 16. From Silica Nano-Particles to Silica Gels and Beyond - Salt Induced Aggregation of Silica Nano-Particles and the Stability of Resultant Gels

    Författare :Christian Sögaard; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silica; Nanoparticles; grouting; Specific ion effects; Nanomaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Aqueous silica nanoparticle suspensions are widely available and used within a number of industries. A relatively new area of application is as a grouting material for sealing narrow fractures in tunnels. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Platinum-free Electrocatalysts : Design, Synthesis, and Energy Applications

    Författare :Yi Yang; Inna Soroka; Carina Lagergren; Serhiy Cherevko; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pt-free electrocatalysts; γ-radiation induced synthesis; size; morphology; structure; and composition of nanocatalysts; ORR; catalytic activity and durability; formation mechanism of catalyst materials in aqueous solutions.; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Pt is one of the most commonly used catalysts for green energy applications, such as fuel cells, electrolyzers, and dye-sensitized solar cells. Although enormous effort has been put into improving the catalytic activity and minimizing the usage of Pt in the catalysts, the low abundance and high price of Pt still limit the large-scale commercialization of green energy devices and facilities. 3. 18. Interacting Magnetic Nanosystems : An Experimental Study Of Superspin Glasses

    Författare :Mikael Svante Andersson; Roland Mathieu; Dino Fiorani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin glass; SQUID magnetometry; maghemite; magnetism; nanoparticles;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents experimental results on strongly interacting γ-Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles and their collective properties. The main findings are that very dense randomly packed (≈60%) γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles form a replica of a spin glass. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Hydrolytic Synthesis and Physicochemical Properties of TiO2 Nanoparticles: Fundamentals and Applications

    Författare :Jenny Perez-Holmberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Titanium dioxide TiO2 ; Nanoparticles; Synthesis; Hydrolysis; Titanium tetrachloride TiCl4 ; Anatase; Brookite; DLS; ES-SMPS; XRD; Collective diffusion; Interfacial processes;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized via the hydrolysis of TiCl4 in order to produce clean, surfactant-free oxide surfaces. By controlling the synthesis and aging conditions, stable particles with well-defined size distributions were obtained. LÄS MER
