  1. 1. Studies of Stroma Formation and Regulation in Human Pathological Conditions and in Experimental in vivo Models

    Författare :Alejandro Rodriguez; Christian Sundberg; Kristian Pietras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fibrosis; Tumor Stroma; Myofibroblast; Pericyte; Angiogenesis; Inflammation; adenovirus; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; Molecular medicine; Molekylär medicin; Medical Biochemistry; Medicinsk biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Fibrosis is a sequel of chronic inflammation and is defined as an excessive deposition of collagen that ultimately leads to organ dysfunction. To date there are no effective treatments for fibrosis. The main cell type involved in collagen deposition and organization is the myofibroblast. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Myofibroblasts and the Vascular Endothelium : Impact of Fibrin Degradation Products and miRNA on Vascular Motility and Function

    Författare :Peder Fredlund Fuchs; Pär Gerwins; Johan Kreuger; Arne Östman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Vascular biology; Chemotaxis; Endothelial cell; Myofibroblast; Wound healing; miRNA; Heparan sulfate; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature and is important during development as well as wound healing and tissue remodeling. Angiogenesis also occurs during pathological conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanisms of Tissue Vascularization

    Författare :Witold Kilarski; Pär Gerwins; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Andreas Bikfalvi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; vascularization; angiogenesis; granulation tissue; myofibroblast; wound healing; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Tissue neovascularization in postnatal life occurs during post-traumatic tissue healing, neoplastic growth and in the endometrium during the reproductive cycle of females. Although embryonic angiogenesis has been intensively studied, far less is known about tissue revascularization and vessel remodeling in adults due to methodological difficulties. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Biomolecular Aspects of Flexor Tendon Healing

    Författare :Maria Berglund; Monica Wiig; Olof Nilsson; Jan Fridén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Flexor tendon healing; Growth factor; Metalloproteinase; Collagen; Proteoglycan; Myofibroblast; Hyaluronan synthase; Mast cell; Hand surgery; Handkirurgi; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Flexor tendon injuries in zone II of the hand (i.e. between the distal volar crease and the distal interphalangeal joint) can be costly for both the afflicted individual and society because of the high cost of a long rehabilitation period, complicated by tendon ruptures or scarring with adhesion formation, causing impaired range of motion. 5. 5. Myofibroblasts and polyploid cells in the conjunctival surface after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Författare :David Hallberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Myofibroblast; Polyploid; Allogeneic; Graft-versus-Host Disease;

    Sammanfattning : Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is a potentially curative treatment modality for hematological malignancies, such as leukemia and lymphoma. However, a major complication of the procedure is that the immune effector cells in the graft may become activated towards the host´s healthy tissues, resulting in a condition called Graft-versus-Host Disease (GvHD).
