11. Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum epidemiology and outcome in children born in Sweden 1980-1999
Sammanfattning : Aims: To describe children born with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum (PA-IVS) in Sweden between 1980 and 1999, the incidence and outcome of PA-IVS, to examine cardio-pulmonary outcomes in survivors and to evaluate their quality of life. Material and methods: Eighty-four subjects were identified. LÄS MER
12. Artificial neural networks classify myocardial perfusion images
Sammanfattning : In the studies of this thesis, a method for automated classification of myocardial perfusion images was successfully developed and evaluated. The results show that the method, based on artificial neural networks, was equally good, or even better than human experts. LÄS MER
13. Levosimendan in early experimental sepsis: effects on the heart and hepatosplanchnic circulation
Sammanfattning : Sepsis-related cardiovascular dysfunction associated with fluid-unresponsive tissue hypoperfusion might require inotropic treatment. This cardiovascular dysfunction seems to involve calcium desensitization and adrenergic unresponsiveness. LÄS MER
14. Coagulation Inhibition and Development of Myocardial Damage in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
Sammanfattning : In 101 patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated with streptokinase the additional effects of lmw-heparin (dalteparin) were investigated. The prognostic value of troponin-T (TnT) was elucidated and the development of myocardial damage was investigated with Positron Emission Tomography (PET). LÄS MER
15. Methods for quantitative analysis of myocardial perfusion SPECT : validated with magnetic resonance imaging, phantom studies and expert readers
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, methods for automated analysis of myocardial perfusion single photon emission computer tomography (myocardial perfusion SPECT, MPS) images have been successfully developed and evaluated. MPS images show the perfusion of the myocardium and are used for diagnosing patients with suspected ischemic heart disease. LÄS MER
