  1. 1. Clinically Unrecognized Myocardial Scars Detected by MRI

    Författare :Raquel Espregueira Themudo; Tomas Bjerner; Andrew Arai; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; unrecognized myocardial scars; myocardial infarction; epidemiology; magnetic resonance; computed topographic coronary angiography; exercise test; NT-proBNP; Radiology; Radiologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A high percentage of unrecognized myocardial infarctions (UMIs) seen at delayed-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DE-MRI) are not detected by ECG. DE-MRI-detected UMIs are independent predictors of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Smokeless Tobacco (Snus) and Cardiovascular Disease : Associations with Heart Failure and Prognosis after Myocardial Infarction

    Författare :Gabriel Arefalk; Johan Sundström; Martin Holzmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Snus; smokeless tobacco; nicotine; cardiovascular disease; heart failure; myocardial infarction; mortality; prognosis; epidemiology; Epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Previous investigations of snus use (oral moist snuff, a Swedish form of smokeless tobacco) and cardiovascular disease have generally focused on atherosclerotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, likely because smoking is such a well-established risk factor for atherosclerotic disease. Smokeless administration of tobacco circumvents most of the atherogenic effects of the combusted products from smoked tobacco, but it is possible that the potent autonomic and hemodynamic effects of snus and nicotine per se are detrimental for cardiovascular tissues. 4. 4. Determination of the role of oxygen in acute myocardial infarction

    Författare :Robin Hofmann; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Myocardial infarction;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Oxygen therapy has been used routinely in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI) for more than a hundred years. Even today, supplemental oxygen is widely recommended in guidelines and implemented in clinical practice, despite limited data supporting a beneficial clinical effect. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Myocardial infarction personality factors, coping strategies, depression and secondary prevention

    Författare :Mona Schlyter; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Acute myocardial infarction; Personality factors; Coping strategies; depression; smoking cessation; Secondary prevention;

    Sammanfattning : A longitudinal study with 400 patients diagnosed with myocardial infarction (MI) was conducted at the Cardiology department at Malmö University hospital in Sweden, between 2002 and 2005. The aim of the project was to identify personality and psychosocial factors, influencing patients’ actions and the prognoses after MI. LÄS MER
