2. Organizational Lessons Learned : Natural Hazards Affecting Critical Infrastructure
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on an issue often presented as a solution – albeit a debated one – namely learning, specifically lessons learned from natural hazard events. Empirically, this thesis examines flooding and avalanches in a Swedish context, centering on systematic feedback mechanisms and learning from extreme events. LÄS MER
3. Adaptive Robot Presenters : Modelling Grounding in Multimodal Interaction
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the topic of grounding in human-robot interaction, that is, the process by which the human and robot can ensure mutual understanding. To explore this topic, the scenario of a robot holding a presentation to a human audience is used, where the robot has to process multimodal feedback from the human in order to adapt the presentation to the human's level of understanding. 4. Fluorescence as a biological feedback signal for energy optimising spectra for greenhouse LED-illumination
Sammanfattning : The introduction of LED-lighting for greenhouses has enabled new ways of controlling the light, both spectrum and intensity, to save energy and increase crop production. We have investigated a new method of automatically tuning the spectrum based on biological feedback. LÄS MER
5. The mutual interaction between the time-mean atmospheric circulation and continental-scale ice sheets
Sammanfattning : Geomorphological evidence of glaciations exist for the Last Glacial Maximum (about 20 kyr ago). At this time, both North America and Eurasia were covered by extensive ice sheets which are both absent today. LÄS MER
