  1. 16. Waste Heat Driven Membrane Distillation for Industrial Wastewater Treatment

    Författare :Imtisal-e- Noor; Andrew R. Martin; Olli Dahl; Mikel Duke; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Membrane Distillation; Experimental investigations; Techno-economic; Wastewater; Flue gas condensate; Waste heat; District heating; Nano-electronics; Cogeneration; Sustainable development; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The European Union has placed a high priority on reaching the goals described in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This aim has provided added momentum to member-state environmental regulatory authorities to further tighten the discharge limits of industrial wastewater. LÄS MER

  2. 17. A passage to wastewater nutrient recovery units : Microalgal-Bacterial bioreactors

    Författare :Anbarasan Anbalagan; Jesus Zambrano; Sebastian Schwede; Carl-Fredrik Lindberg; Emma Nehrenheim; Francisco Gabriel Acién Fernández; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microalgae; Bacteria; Carbon; Nitrogen; Light; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the microalgal–bacterial process has been considered to be a very attractive engineering solution for wastewater treatment. However, it has not been widely studied in the context of conventional wastewater treatment design under Swedish conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 18. New Dimensions of Moving Bed Biofilm Carriers : Influence of biofilm thickness and control possibilities

    Författare :MARIA PICULELL; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biofilm control; biofilm thickness; biological wastewater treatment; carrier; moving bed biofilm reactor; nitrification; nitritation; organic removal; process optimization; scaling; suspended growth;

    Sammanfattning : The moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is a biological wastewater treatment process in which microorganisms grow as biofilms on suspended carriers. Conventionally, MBBRs are mainly designed and optimized based on the carrier surface area, neglecting the dynamic relationship between carrier design, reactor operation and biofilm characteristics, such as biofilm thickness and the composition of the microbial community. 4. 19. Use and Development of Diffusive Samplers to Analyse the Fate of Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds, Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Pharmaceuticals in Wastewater Treatment Processes

    Författare :Lijana Augulyte; Patrik L. Andersson; Anna Ledin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioavailable; biologically activated carbon; PRCs; sampling rate; SPMD; sorption; wastewater treatment; diffusive passive samplers; human pharmaceuticals; municipal sewage treatment plant; organic micropollutants; polycyclic aromatic compounds; PAHs; PCBs; POCIS; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : The efficiency of wastewater treatment systems is commonly measured by the reductions of parameters such as biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) and/or reductions in levels of selected macro compounds (e.g. long-chained hydrocarbons and inorganic compounds). 5. 20. Inhibition of Nitrification in Municipal Wastewater - Sources, Effects, Evaluation and Remedies

    Författare :Karin Jönsson; Vattenförsörjnings- och avloppsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Wastewater; Toxicity; Nitrification; Inhibition; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp;

    Sammanfattning : Today, as a rule, the most cost-effective way to remove nitrogen from municipal wastewater is the biological method based on nitrification and subsequent denitrification. All biological systems may be affected by toxicants, and biological nitrogen removal is no exception. LÄS MER
