  1. 1. Multivariate analyses of proteomic and metabolomic patterns in brain tumors

    Författare :Carl Wibom; A Tommy Bergenheim; Henrik Antti; Mikael Johansson; Janne Lehtiö; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :glioblastoma; meningioma; proteomics; metabolomics; multivariate analyses; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor. Given the current standard of care, the prognosis for patients diagnosed with this disease is still poor. There consequently exists a need to improve current treatments, as well as to develop new ones. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Decoding the complex brain : multivariate and multimodal analyses of neuroimaging data

    Författare :Alireza Salami; Lars Nyberg; Cheryl Grady; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; multivariate analysis; univariate analysis; multimodal imaging; episodic memory; aging; functional magnetic resonance imaging; diffusion tensor imaging; biology; biologi; Psychology; psykologi; datoriserad bildanalys; Computerized Image Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Functional brain images are extraordinarily rich data sets that reveal distributed brain networks engaged in a wide variety of cognitive operations. It is a substantial challenge both to create models of cognition that mimic behavior and underlying cognitive processes and to choose a suitable analytic method to identify underlying brain networks. 3. 3. Improving interpretation by orthogonal variation : Multivariate analysis of spectroscopic data

    Författare :Hans Stenlund; Johan Trygg; Tom Fearn; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; OPLS; PLS; Multivariate Analysis; Orthogonal variation; Chemometrics; hyperspectral images; FTIR; NIR; spectroscopy; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The desire to use the tools and concepts of chemometrics when studying problems in the life sciences, especially biology and medicine, has prompted chemometricians to shift their focus away from their field‘s traditional emphasis on model predictivity and towards the more contemporary objective of optimizing information exchange via model interpretation. The complex data structures that are captured by modern advanced analytical instruments open up new possibilities for extracting information from complex data sets. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions

    Författare :Kent Wiberg; Sven Jacobsson; Lars Nørgaard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemometrics; UV-Vis spectroscopy; Multivariate calibration; Lidocaine; Identity; Content; PLS; SIMCA; Non-column; Diode array UV spectroscopy; DAD; Control sample; High Capacity Analysis HCA ; Fluorescence spectroscopy; Albumin; Immunoglobulin G; HPLC-DAD; Prilocaine; Peak purity determination; PCA; PARAFAC; Partial separation; Curve resolution; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis some multivariate spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solutions are proposed. Spectroscopy and multivariate data analysis form a powerful combination for obtaining both quantitative and qualitative information and it is shown how spectroscopic techniques in combination with chemometric data evaluation can be used to obtain rapid, simple and efficient analytical methods. 5. 5. Dissolving pulp : Multivariate Characterisation and Analysis of Reactivity and Spectroscopic Properties

    Författare :Kristina Elg Christoffersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Dissolving pulp; reactivity; solid state 13C NMR spectroscopy; NIR spectroscopy; multivariate analysis; cellulose; viscose; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Various chemical properties can be used to characterise dissolving pulp. The quality of the pulp must be carefully controlled to ensure that it meets the requirements for its intended use and the further processes to be applied. LÄS MER
