    Sammanfattning : To study the functions of glycoconjugates in biological systems reliable and efficient protocols for glycoconjugate synthesis are needed. To reach this goal we have developed methods for solid-phase synthesis of glycoconjugates that can be monitored with gel-phase 19F spectroscopy using fluorinated linkers, building blocks, and protecting groups. 2. 2. Modelling anisotropic interactions in colloidal systems

    Författare :Alexei Abrikossov; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :SIMULATION; Modelling; electrostatic interactions; Colloids; Statistical mechanics; SIMULATION; Modelling; electrostatic interactions; colloid; Statistical mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : There has been an increased interest to design “smart materials” which can self-assemble into complex structures in accordance to external factors such as for example electromagnetic fields. By designing particles with directional interactions one is able to control how particles will interact with each other. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metals in Dynamic Chemistry: Selection & Catalysis

    Författare :Brian J.J. Timmer; Olof Ramström; Stéphane Bellemin-Laponnaz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; constitutional dynamic chemistry; selection; multivalent interactions; carbohydrates; quartz crystal microbalance; catalyst screening; aqueous olefin metathesis; C-H activation; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In the adaptation to the oxidative environment on earth, metals played a crucial role for the evolution of life. The presence of metals also allowed access to advanced functions due to their unique coordination sphere and reactivity. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience. 5. 5. Simulations of Simple Fluids and Surface Forces

    Författare :Martin Trulsson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular modeling; Surface Forces; Dielectric Constant; Charge Capacitance; Charge Regulation; Hypersphere; Statistical mechanics; Intermolecular interactions; Col- loidal Stability; Simulations; Fluids;

    Sammanfattning : A considerable part of all chemistry in nature and in industry occurs in solvents. Sol- vents affect both the interactions and the reactions of the particles immersed in them. The work in this thesis concerns the properties of ionic and polar solvents, as well as the interactions between solutes and/or dispersed particles. LÄS MER
