11. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples. 12. Computerised Three-Dimensional Analysis of Optic Nerve Head Topography in Normal and Glaucomatous Eyes
Sammanfattning : Evaluation of the optic nerve head topography is one of the most important methods to diagnose and monitor patients with glaucoma. Until recently, optic nerve head topography has most often been judged by either ophthalmoscopy or from optic disc photographs. LÄS MER
13. Identifying Influential Observations in Nonlinear Regression : a focus on parameter estimates and the score test
Sammanfattning : This thesis contributes to influence analysis in nonlinear regression and in particular the detection of influential observations. The focus is on a regression model with a known mean function, which is nonlinear in its parameters and where the function is chosen according to the knowledge about the process generating the data. 14. Towards Topography Characterization of Additive Manufacturing Surfaces
Sammanfattning : Additive Manufacturing (AM) is on the verge of causing a downfall to conventional manufacturing with its huge potential in part manufacture. With an increase in demand for customized product, on-demand production and sustainable manufacturing, AM is gaining a great deal of attention from different industries in recent years. LÄS MER
15. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems
Sammanfattning : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them.
