  1. 11. Ultrasound prediction of large fetuses. Epidemiological and clinical investigations

    Författare :Gun Lindell; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Two-dimensional ultrasound; three-dimensional ultrasound; fetus; intrauterine growth; maternal characteristic; large-for-gestational age; antenatal calculation; Bayesian theorem; fetal weight; estimation; post-term fetus; fetal macrosomia;

    Sammanfattning : The proportions of newborns with a birth weight (BW) >4,000 g and of macrosomic newborns (BW >4,500 g) have increased during the last two decades, parallel with an increasing maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and age at the time for pregnancy. Delivery of a large fetus, especially >4,500 g might cause perinatal complications for both the mother and her child. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Smoking cessation and health promotion around pregnancy

    Författare :Lena Lendahls; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epidemiology; Folkhälsa; epidemiologi; Public health; health providers.; health counselling; intervention; smoking cessation; cotinine; risk factors; Pregnancy; smoking habits;

    Sammanfattning : A smoking cessation program targeting pregnant women and their partners was monitored during 17 years and subjected to several substudies. All women in Blekinge, who gave birth in the months of September during the period 1984 to 2000, were asked to fill out a questionnaire, anonymously, about their smoking habits before and during pregnancy. 3. 13. Different aspects of electronic fetal monitoring during labor

    Författare :Erika Gyllencreutz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cardiotocography (CTG) is a tool to assess fetal well-being during labor and to detect early signs of fetal distress and thereby enable timely interventions to reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality. CTG is associated with shortcomings; poor reliability in interpretation, low specificity with a high proportion of false positive tracings indicating fetal distress when not accurate, no proven effect on rare severe outcomes such as mortality and cerebral palsy, but rather contributing to an increased risk of operative delivery. 4. 14. Urban women applying for induced abortion. Studies of epidemiology, attitudes and emotional reactions

    Författare :Hanna Söderberg; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrik; reproduction; sexuality; andrology; Obstetrics; gynaecology; Induced abortion; risk areas; continued pregnancy; socio-demographic differences; reasons for abortion; interview study; selection bias; emotional distress; repeat abortion; ethnic problems; use of an compliance with contraceptives; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden between 32-38,000 women annually elect to terminate pregnancy by means of induced abortion, though their reasons are still not well understood. The purpose of these studies, carried out at the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology and of Community Medicine at University Hospital, Malmö, was to elucidate the incidence of induced abortion in an urban population, with special emphasis on epidemiological and socio-demographic factors, the women's attitude to abortion, and the incidence and severity of post-abortion emotional reactions. 5. 15. Clinical and molecular genetic characterization of congenital malformations

    Författare :Johanna Winberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Congenital malformations are important causes of perinatal mortality and morbidity, and around 4% of children are diagnosed with a malformation during their first year of life. Despite improved surgical treatment, several malformations are associated with lifelong sequelae requiring specialized health care. LÄS MER
