  1. 1. Molecular Analysis of Normal Human Skin and Basal Cell Carcinoma Using Microdissection Based Methods

    Författare :Anna Asplund; Fredrik Pontén; Uffe Birk Jenssen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pathology; skin; basal cell carcinoma; microdissection; X-chromosome inactivation; Patologi; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to gain further insight into the biology of normal human skin and basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Morphology in combination with microdissection was used as primary tool for sampling. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Epidemiology, diagnostics and treatment of non-melanoma skin cancers

    Författare :Oscar Zaar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pain; non-melanoma skin cancer; basal cell carcinoma; merkel cell carcinoma; Bowen’s disease; imaging mass spectrometry; lipidomics; photodynamic therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Skin cancer, including malignant melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), is a growing problem due to the increasing incidence in Sweden and in other Caucasian populations. NMSCs are diagnosed as often as all other cancers combined and include basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), precursors to SCC such as Bowen’s disease (BD) and actinic keratosis (AK), as well as several rare skin cancers including Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). 3. 3. A clinical and experimental study of basal cell carcinoma : aspects on epidemiology, genetics and microphysiology

    Författare :Peter Wallberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Basal cell carcinoma; multiple basal cell carcinoma; HLA; X-ray microanalysis; incidence sequence specific primers; PCR;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis we report on basal cell carcinoma from the points of view of its incidence, risk factors and pathogenesis, with special interest in patients with more than one basal cell carcinoma in life. Incidence was studied for southern Stockholm during two periods separated by two decades, 1971-1980 and 1996-1997. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on basal cell carcinoma with emphasis on the role of the human homologue of the Drosophila patched gene

    Författare :Anne Birgitte Undén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Basal cell carcinoma BCC ; carcinogenesis; in situ hybridization; linkageanalysis; gene; mutation; PCR; p53; PTCH; SHH; skin; SSCP; stromelysin 3 ST3 ; trichoepithelioma TE ; UVR.;

    Sammanfattning : Basal cell cancer (BCC) is the most common cancer in the Western world. Although BCCs hardly ever metastasize, invasive growth may cause considerable local tissue destruction. Ultraviolet radiation (WR) is presumed to be the predominant environmental factor. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mutational analyses of the tumor suppressor gene Patched1 : role in non-melanoma skin cancer and nevoid basal cell carcinoma

    Författare :Erika Lindström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Western countries, with a rapidly increasing incidence. The majority of these tumors are non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC). The most common NMSC is basal cell carcinoma (BCC) followed by squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). In the US more than 1. LÄS MER
