  1. 1. On the Agglomeration of Particles in Exhaust Gases

    Författare :Ghulam Majal; Mihai Mihaescu; Mats Åbom; Mikael Karlsson; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Henrik Ström; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multiphase flow; DES; particulate matter; exhaust after treatment; particle agglomeration; Lagrangian particle tracking; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Particulate emissions from road transportation are known to have an adverse impact on human health as well the environment. As the effects become more palpable, stricter legislation have been proposed by regulating bodies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Numerical simulation and analysis of multi-scale cavitating flows using a hybrid mixture-bubble model

    Författare :Ebrahim Ghahramani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Homogeneous mixture model; Lagrangian bubble model; CFD; Cavitation; OpenFOAM; Multiphase flow; Hybrid model; Multi-scale;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this research is to model and analyse multi-scale cavitating flows with a certain emphasis on small sub-grid vapour structures. Cavitating flows include vapour structures with different length scales, from micro-bubbles to large cavities. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A Realizable Hybrid Mixture-Bubble Model for Cavitating Flows

    Författare :Ebrahim Ghahramani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-scale model; Homogeneous mixture model; Cavitation; Disperse multiphase flow; Eulerian-Lagrangian model; OpenFOAM;

    Sammanfattning : Cavitating multi-phase flows include an extensive range of cavity structures with different length scales, from micro bubbles to large sheet cavities that may fully cover the surface of a device. To avoid high computational expenses, incompressible transport equation models are considered a practical option for simulation of large scale cavitating flows, normally with limited representation of the small scale vapour structures. Författare :Winston Mmari; Björn Johannesson; Lynn Schreyer; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Moisture transport; Coupled heat and moisture; Over-hygroscopic; Hybrid mixture theory; Mixture theory; Swelling; Hygro-mechanical; Non-linear elasticity; Large deformation; Phase field crack model; Anisotropic cracking; FEM; Numerical model; Norway spruce; Wood; Porous media; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wood has been used as a construction material for a very long time. The development of efficient industrial production processes of wood has expanded the use of the material with the introduction of new products, such as engineered wood products. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Multiphase Contamination in Rock Fractures : Fluid Displacement and Interphase Mass Transfer

    Författare :Zhibing Yang; Auli Niemi; Fritjof Fagerlund; Tissa Illangasekare; Insa Neuweiler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiphase flow; dissolution; mass transfer; invasion percolation; immiscible displacement; fractured media; groundwater contamination; non-aqueous phase liquid; curvature; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Multiphase flow and transport in fractured rock is of importance to many practical and engineering applications. In the field of groundwater hydrology an issue of significant environmental concern is the release of dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) which can cause long-term groundwater contamination in fractured aquifers.
